End of January and February
Fiery fireworks, fellow flower growers!
Have you already noticed how the day began to arrive? Someone, but our indoor plants did not ignore an important solar process. Moreover, the uzambara violets, the flowering of which directly depends on the duration of illumination.
They begin to prepare for the mass release of the buds. The task of a caring florist is to help your favorite flowers to show themselves in all their glory.. After reading the article to the end, you will find out the whole list of pleasant troubles πΈ
Inspection code-named "Violet"
The first place to start is careful inspection and drawing up a plan of further actions π Still, winter becomes an ordeal for violets growing without lighting. We need to determine who needs what kind of help.
I offer you a ready-made checklist. You can save this post on the social network by clicking on its icon so as not to lose your list of top priority tasks. And then, when you have free time, spend it leisurely and thoroughly revision:
- See which violets have withered lower leaves. This is a natural reaction to unfavorable conditions (for example, drying out of the soil or heat from heating batteries) or an age process. A sluggish leaf does not represent either beauty or benefit, so remove it. If the problem is massive, then you need to find what is so critical that your plant does not suit.
Author's advice: If the leaf has not yet fully wilted, you can only cut the blade itself. And the cutting will dry out in 1-2 weeks, and it can be removed without residue and harm to the rest of the outlet
- Since the lower leaves periodically die off and this is normal, over time Saintpaulia grows and bares the trunk. The view is not very decorative, I can tell you. And a direct indication for rejuvenation: you still can't do without it. If you notice that the rosette has become a "palm tree", it is best to enroll it in the rejuvenation queue.
- It is possible that your violet hastened to respond to the increase in daylight hours and started to grow. I just focused not on the buds and not even on the leaves, but on stepsons in the place of growth of leaf petioles. They must be removed: before flowering, the dowry takes away nutrients and substances from the mother. Plugs the socket. And it also contradicts the golden rule of violet growers: "One plant - one center!" Well, trailers don't count.
- Of course, we are looking carefully traces of pests and diseases. If the enemy is found (and I hope that this does not happen to your plants π), then we do the appropriate processing, while nothing terrible has happened yet. We will not give uzambar violets in offense!
Change of care: heading for flowering
Late January-early February - it's time to start slowly transplant violets. By March, they will finally recover from the stress and will begin to work on the mass production of the long-awaited buds.
Author's advice: All violets are transplanted at least once a year, and even better - 2 times (for uninterrupted flowering, as at the exhibition). And remember the main rule: the diameter of the pot is 3 times smaller than the diameter of the outlet π I will emphasize again that this is extremely important
Start slowly returning potassium-phosphorus supplements for adult violets, which you do not consider necessary to transplant now. Macronutrients come in handy for flowering.
Do the buds never want to appear or are there very few of them? No problem! Find a lighter spot for the Saintpaulia. Do you like violets and was the article helpful to you?
