Subtleties of connecting a smart switch
Hello dear subscribers and visitors of my channel! Today I want to talk with you about the intricacies of connecting smart switches with the ability to work in the smart home system. So let's get started.
Purchase and price
So, I decided to completely transfer my house to the category of smart ones and for this I began to order various components and check their performance. I ordered the switch on the well-known Internet portal. The order cost me 750 rubles with free shipping.
The order came within 10 days in such a box. Thank God everything is intact and was not damaged on the way.
Inside the box, in addition to the switch itself, there is a booklet, which contains technical characteristics, a connection diagram and an algorithm for registering a device in applications.
This device works with the application SmartLifewhich can be downloaded from GooglePlay and AppStore.
Specifications
So, our smart switch has the following technical parameters:
- Maximum switched current - 10 Amperes;
- Working voltage - from 100 to 250 Volts AC;
- Frequency - 50/60 Hz;
- Working frequency - Wi-Fi 2.4 Hz;
- Standard - IEEE802.11 b / g / n.
Subtleties of connection
Surely you will say: "What's so hard about connecting a switch?" I also thought so at first, but after carefully studying the diagram, I realized that there are subtleties here.
And the thing is that for the operation of this switch, a neutral wire is also needed. And there is no way without him.
Therefore, in a junction box, the connection of such a switch will look like this:
And this means that it will not quite work to install this switch instead of the old one, since at least a three-core wire must go to the switch.
Note. By the way, this switch, despite its size, fits perfectly into an ordinary socket.
In the on position, the red backlight is on, and in the standby mode it is blue.
So, the circuit is assembled and, in principle, it is already working, only in order to control the switch, you need to perform the following operations:
- First, install the application SmartLife to your phone and go through a simple registration:
- After successful registration, you need to add the device. To do this, first we reset our switch: we press and hold our finger on the sensor until you hear a click and see that in the area where the icon Wi-Fi, the blue LED will start blinking.
- After that, you need to add a device in the application by clicking "Light Confirmation In Flash Memory", then a field will appear where you enter the password from your Wi-Fi, then click "Next" and that's it, your device is connected.
Now you can control the switch from anywhere in the world, the main thing is that the house is turned on Wi-Fi and you had internet. The breaker test is shown in detail in the following video:
conclusions
So, after I "drove" this gadget, I decided that it is quite suitable for my purposes and that you can order the missing switches.
