Heating in Spain: why it's so cold in homes

Sunny Spain is not only a warm sea, gentle beaches and comfortable walks. Coming here, you need to know that it is quite cold here in hostels, hotels and apartments from November to March. Since most of the year it's warm outside and heating is quite expensive, in most places there is simply no centralized heating. And in the best case - you can only warm yourself with an air conditioner.

Local residents are already accustomed to this and are calm about the temperature of 15-17 degrees in their homes. This is how the statistics on heating in houses in Spain looks like:

· In 15% of houses, heating is completely absent;

· 10% of houses have central heating;

· 25% of residential premises have individual heating;

· Almost half of the homes in Spain use separate heating devices (eg heat pumps).

And if the locals are used to it, then the vacationers are horrified. And this is not surprising, because in most residential buildings in Russia during the heating season, the air temperature is kept in the region of 20-25 degrees.

Remember once and for all: if you are going to Spain from November to March, take warm clothes and a hairdryer with you. With wet hair after a shower, you definitely shouldn't go to bed, so as not to spend the rest of your vacation with a runny nose and fever.

Hotels with 4 stars and more usually have individual heating, so choosing such accommodation you don't have to be afraid. But in hostels or in apartments rented through airbnb, heating can be problematic. I advise you to always check with the owners what temperature is maintained in their home, so as not to face a problem after settling in.

But there are more pluses than minuses in a vacation in Spain: most of the year it is very warm here, and freezing temperatures are rare. Coming here, you need to walk, get acquainted with the local culture and be inspired by the special atmosphere. And low temperatures in houses will not be a problem if you prepare in advance for this and take warm clothes with you.
