Cabbage of all types and varieties - in general, it can be called an unpretentious vegetable. But getting a big harvest from her is not so easy.

But I am used to following the rules of agricultural technology, and although it may seem like a difficult science - if all done right from the beginning of the gardening season, cabbage will grow in huge quantities and excellent quality.

Other plants

Cabbage cannot "feel good" where it grew in the previous season:

Any other cabbage;

Potatoes;

· carrot;

Pumpkins;

· Eggplants;

Vegetable peppers.

Zucchini, cucumbers, corn, onions and garlic are considered favorable predecessors.

Together with cabbage, beans and lettuce can be planted right next to it - they will support the development of its root system, enrich the soil with nitrogen.

Since last year, I have decided to plant sage, dill, marigolds, rosemary and chamomile next to cabbage - so space is saved for a spicy garden, it looks cute, and yet - all this scares off cabbage pests.

Good land

Cabbage reacts extremely positively to the autumn digging of the plot allocated for its beds.

You also need to add 1 square meter at the end of the season:

2/3 buckets of humus;

2 tablespoons of superphosphate;

1 tablespoon of potassium sulfate.

In acidic soil, cabbage is vulnerable to fungal diseases, therefore, the pH is normalized using dolomite flour, wood ash, and chalk. In addition, the soil must be water-absorbing and breathable - both qualities can be improved by composting.

Lighting

The cabbage wastes away in the shade. Her beds should be under the sun. But for those who live in the southern regions, where it is very hot during the day, it is advisable to have plantings next to the cabbage that shade it for midday.

Watering

I got used to watering cabbage beds as needed - not allowing even light drying, but not turning them into a swamp.

And one more thing - the water should be at room temperature or warm, because ice cold - causes "shock" in plants, inhibits their growth.

Fertilizers

Nitrogen must be “on the menu” of the culture in the early stages of its development, as well as during the filling of the heads. Phosphorus is also needed - it contributes to the formation of dense heads of cabbage.

When the harvest begins to ripen, potassium is required, without which its good taste and long shelf life are impossible.

If you apply these simple tips, then the cabbage will delight you with the harvest. And of course, the final result also depends on the quality of the planting material and weather conditions.
