How to Grow a Thick Trunk Money Tree? Easy way and enjoy Plush plant
They say that the mystical power of Crassula is contained not only in the rounded leaves, but also in the trunk - which is like a "foundation" for keeping all the well-being that it attracts to the house. In addition, it is believed that with a thick trunk, the money tree will be healthier and just prettier in appearance.
After rereading a mountain of popular science literature and consulting with experienced flower growers, I finally figured out everything and can share the secrets of how to grow crassula with a thick trunk.
A trunk diameter of at least 2-3 cm is considered normal for small plants (up to 30 cm high) and about 5-7 cm for large ones.
Botanists believe that there are two main factors that influence stem formation:
1. The pot should only slightly exceed the size of the root system of the tree, in too large and deep - it lets forces on the development of the underground, and not the aboveground part.
2. The place where Crassula stands should be sunny - from a lack of lighting, the branches and trunk develop stunted and thin. In autumn and winter, a phytolamp is needed. A young tree is periodically turned so that it does not stretch towards the light in one direction - this causes a curvature of the trunk and uneven growth of the crown.
And yet, the easiest way is to properly grow a money tree with a thick trunk from the very beginning. To do this, you need to do the following:
· Cut off a young twig of the bastard and put it in water for 2-5 days - waiting for the roots to release;
· Pour a 2 cm drainage layer of broken brick or expanded clay on the bottom of the pot;
· Buy soil mixture "for cacti" or mix it from 1 part peat, 2 parts sand and 2 parts leaf soil;
· Pour the soil into the pot, water it slightly, make a hole, lower the plant seedling into it and cover it around with the earth.
After that, you need to wait until 4 pairs of leaves grow in the fat woman and pinch the top, maintaining a height of 10-15 cm. In winter and spring, pinching and pruning of branches contribute to the thickening of the trunk.
The main thing is to be sure to remove those branches that creep, grow down.
In addition, there is another simple way to strengthen (thicken) the trunk of an already grown tree. This is done as follows:
· The lower branches are cut off by one third;
• at the top of the tree, cut off half of the longest branches;
· For 2 months after pruning, reduce the frequency of watering to 1 time in 3 weeks.
· In the next period of dormancy of the plant, they do not allow the development of newly formed shoots, removing them.
Summing up, we can say that Crassula is a really simple home tree, which is not difficult to care for.
