A step-by-step technique for Transplanting garden Lilies, thanks to which I always have gorgeous Beds of these flowers in my Garden
When transplanting lilies, their variety, flower age, flowering time are taken into account. But despite the variety of varieties of lilies, there are general rules for caring for them. On one site, lilies grow on average up to 5 years.
In the future, the plant develops slowly, blooms worse, flowers become small. Therefore, lilies need to be transplanted periodically. And it is advisable to choose places where flowers did not grow before.
I recommend the optimal period when a favorable time for transplanting flowers is August - September. In order for the lilies to fully develop and bloom, I transplant them every 3-4 years.
For transplanting, choose sunny places and so that there is no stagnation of water. In a darkened area, they also grow, but the flowers will have a pale appearance.
Step-by-step transplant technique
The transplantation of garden lilies should be treated carefully.
I am using the following sequence:
· Let the lilies bloom. After that, you still need to wait 1-2 months;
I dig out the bulb, being careful not to damage the root system of the plant. The main part of the roots should remain on the dug out bulbs;
· I remove dried or dead husks from the bulbs. As a rule, it is located on top;
If, in addition to transplanting, you want to propagate flowers, young small bulbs are useful for this, or divide a large onion;
· I make a solution of malofos of low concentration. If it is not there, I use ordinary potassium permanganate. The water for preparing the solution should be at room temperature. I immerse the onions in the solution and keep for half an hour;
· Preparing the hole for transplantation. It should match the size of the bulb. If the bulbs have large roots, then I deepen the hole so that the roots are placed in it freely;
· I pour some sand into the hole so that the bottom of the hole is covered. I place the onion and sprinkle the roots with sand. Please note that only the roots are sprinkled, not the bulb;
· I fill the hole with soil. From above, to protect against frost, I sprinkle it with a layer of peat or sawdust. With the onset of spring, such a layer will serve as a fertilizer.
In regions with cold winters, I recommend covering the landing site with a film when the air temperature drops to 0 -40 C.
To make lilies bloom in your garden abundant and regular, replant the bulbs on time and observe all the nuances of this process.
