Egyptian "mansions" or life behind closed windows
Available all inclusive, sea, sights, so you can say about Egypt in a few words. And what is it like, the life of ordinary Egyptians, their way of life, at home and everyday affairs?
If the wide, main streets are not remarkable in any way, then the residential areas look somewhat different. Narrow alleys and houses very close to each other. At first glance, the layout is strange and uncomfortable, but it makes sense.
Due to this proximity, the houses create a shade in which they escape from the summer heat. And the small windows are almost always closed, and do not allow sunlight to enter the apartments. Egyptians, for the most part, do not like the sun and open windows in the evenings, and in winter they may not open at all. Modern windows in Egypt are not often seen, only in new buildings. The classic version is small window openings without glass, covered with a mosquito net, and closed with wooden shutters.
Apartment. Surprisingly, corridors are not provided for in the planning of houses; at once, from the doorway, a hall meets a kitchen. Traditionally, this part of the house is filled with massive sofas, voluminous armchairs, large and small tables. Free space is not held in high esteem, and the amount of furniture speaks of wealth in the family.
You will not find parquet or laminate here, cold tiles will be in the bathroom, hall and bedroom. In summer, it is an excellent escape from the heat, but in winter, in the season of northern winds, it is cold in the houses. There is no heating system, in winter it is warmer outside than in apartments.
