How to glue polystyrene for facade insulation

At first, even when I used lighthouses, the facade looked very crooked, ugly from the side. And now I want to share this information with you, that is, what is going wrong, why, even if everything according to technology, according to beacons, turned out badly before. With the new technology, it almost always works well, even for those who stick foam for the first time.

So, let's start with the lighthouses. Lighthouses are just 4 reinforcement bars, hammered as much as possible in the corners of the building, at the top and bottom 10 cm from the edge. We stretch horizontal lines on them at an average distance of 13 cm from the main plane of the wall. Moreover, it is better to set them on a level or laser level. He already has vertical fishing lines with the help of paper clips. Or you can make hooks from thick wire in the shape of the English letter "S" instead of paper clips. Vertical lines certainly pull back the horizontal lines with their tension.

And this is where the problem begins. We start the wall, we want to start it well, evenly, glue the first sheet... How easy is it to line up?

Very difficult, because the first corner sheet will still touch the paperclip or hook. Therefore, the first sheet is actually exposed to the eye and this error will then be throughout the entire wall, since the first sheet is the starting one. In addition, it is at the corner and our corner depends on its evenness.

No matter how hard we try to make the hooks small and compact, they rest against the foam and... as a result, it is not known whether the lighthouse has been pulled back or not. Some people try to pick out the foam under the hook with a fingernail, but this is all, like a dead poultice, slightly moved the fishing line, it moved and again rests on the foam. The simplest solution: attach the first sheet, mark with a marker on the wall where it ends, put it aside and start gluing from the second sheet.

Thanks to this, in the process of gluing the entire wall, we can move the fishing line and check any point of any sheet against it. Then we glue the entire first row, the entire second, third... Only at the very end we glue the corner sheets - to do it according to the rule, even without a fishing line (when a common plane has already been set) is not difficult. This is much faster than trying to “catch” the first sheet - it still won't work out well.
