In order for Geranium to always please with flowering in the garden, 1 drop of Iodine is needed. I tell you how to do everything right
There are about 20 varieties of geraniums growing in my garden, and each requires its own, special care details. But there are also general techniques and tricks that allow me to admire its colorful, luxurious flowering every year.
And who would have thought that ordinary iodine would be much more effective than expensive store preparations! I am not a botanist, I do not understand thoroughly the intricacies of the life processes of geraniums, but the folk experience did not lie - using iodine, perhaps:
· Enhance the production of color pigments;
· Increase the number of buds formed;
· Prolong the flowering of geraniums.
In addition, watering with iodine solution is an effective prevention of decay of the root system caused by both waterlogging of the soil and cold weather, and pathogenic microorganisms.
Preparing an iodine solution is very simple. To do this, add 1 drop of iodine to 1 liter of rain or settled water and stir everything thoroughly until it is completely dissolved. You do not need to store the solution - this will reduce its effectiveness, therefore, water immediately.
On average, it is enough to spend 50 ml of the preparation for each plant.
In spring, geraniums can be fed with iodine every 2 weeks, and in summer and autumn, it is better not to add specific substances in excess, therefore, the frequency of fertilization is reduced to 1 time in 4-5 weeks.
I also want to add that when adding an iodine solution, it is important to adhere to the following rules:
1. Top dressing is allowed to be applied only to wet soil - after rain or watering. Otherwise, the root system of flowers may burn.
2. In the process of applying top dressing, in no case should it fall on the stems, buds and leaves. Such an oversight leads to the drying out of the affected part of the plants.
If it is spilled accidentally, the liquid must be wiped off immediately with a piece of damp cloth.
About the best time of day for feeding from iodine, I can say that it is early morning or late evening.
It is advisable to avoid a cloudy day - after all, at any moment the bright sun can look out and it has been scientifically proven that under its rays geranium is somewhat less capable of absorbing nutrients.
Also, I do not advise to make any other feeding and fertilizers within 3-5 days before and after using the iodine solution. for geranium - together with iodine, she has already received everything she needs and there is simply no special effect from additional substances will be.
