How to get rid of Rodents in the Garden for a long time. A proven method used by our grandmothers

From time to time, my garden and garden plot suffers from the raid of small rodents: mice and shrews. Of course, the cat is the first assistant in the fight against rodents.

But, apparently, not all cats are given to catch mice. We got just such a cat. He refuses to catch mice.

The most frequent guests on the site are field mice. They are omnivores, eating all the vegetation that comes their way. These are the stems of plants, their seeds and roots. And in the hungry winter time, they also gnaw the bark of trees.

Therefore, when I see a wilted plant in the front garden, I will definitely investigate its root. If it is gnawed, it means that a vole mouse has been here.

I also had shrews. The animal looks like a mouse, only it has a proboscis instead of a nose. Shrews settle where the soil is moistened to make it easier to dig holes.

Well, of course, the garden is watered with rain and artificial irrigation. So the uninvited guest starts up. On the one hand, shrews are beneficial. They eat harmful insects in the area, they can even eat a frog or vole.

But the harm from them is also not small. The shrew eats earthworms, which are so important for aerating the soil. Digging through the site, it damages the roots of plants. Plus, the quality of the soil is disturbed.

Using poisons and chemicals was not an option. at home there is a cat and a dog that can accidentally eat this poison. And God forbid, the child will find this "delicacy" - even thinking about it is scary!

I share with you the recipe that my mother told you. And her mother gave her science, i.e. my grandmother. She, too, in this way dared rodents from the garden.

1. Elderberry black and red. Where there is this plant, rodents do not live. Its roots contain hydrocyanic acid, which is very toxic to mice. If you plant an elderberry bush on your site, then it will delight you with its flowering, and the smell of leaves and flowers will scare off mice and shrews.

For the winter, you can tie the trunks of garden trees with elderberry branches. So they will be protected from voracious voles.

2. Tomato tops. Rodents do not tolerate the specific smell of tomato tops. I plant tomatoes in the main area so that they stand in the way of rodents. And I lay out the torn tops next to other garden crops.

Also, animals do not like grass and greens with a strong smell: wormwood, chamomile, mint, cilantro. You can plant these plants on the site, or pick them in the meadow and spread them out on the paths in the front garden.

3. Burdock and string. Seeds of burdock and burdock cling to the skins of rodents. And they don't like it very much. And they try to avoid the areas where these plants are planted.
