Glass house in Tokyo: how to live in full view?

click fraud protection

There is a glass house in one of the alleys of the "fashionable" part of Tokyo. At first glance, it may seem that this is another fashionable solution, but it differs from other similar houses by the fact that it is completely glass.

Transparent walls, floor, ceiling - such a requirement was put forward by a young couple to the architect. He was inspired by the houses that the ancient ancestors of the Japanese built on trees, and created a project. The house is the perfect compromise between original architecture, city life and closeness to nature.

It occupies 55 sq.m. and consists of 3 floors. Rooms do not have a special purpose: each of them can be a dining room, a living room, or a bedroom - the owners themselves decide what and how it will be.

The platforms do not have a single floor, they are located at different levels. Therefore, moving around the house requires habit and some physical preparation. The transitions are connected with each other, they seem to flow from one to another.

The design provides for heating only a few floor tiles. It's hard to say how to live in a house in winter, but in summer it has a truly heavenly atmosphere.

The couple living in the house are really brave people. Their life is on public display, everyone can watch. However, such accessibility makes it possible to feel close to nature. The trees seem to grow right in the house, and you can admire the sky without leaving your bedroom.

However, the owners can still keep their privacy to themselves. The house has special curtains that close at night. But is that enough? Do you think you could survive in a transparent house, when your every gesture is visible to passers-by?
