1.Short description. The harsh northern nature served as the basis for the Scandinavian interior. There are few bright colors and details in it. But those that are, the Scandinavians managed to reflect very harmoniously in their home environment. With clear, simple geometry, natural materials and light colors, it is timeless. Those. the Scandinavian-style interior remains relevant in 10 and 20 years.

An important nuance! Scandi is perfect for decorating any city apartment: for spacious housing in a new residential complex, and for a typical Khrushchev, and for a tiny modern studio, and for a private country house. Agree, you don't see that often!

2.Main principle. When choosing a Scandinavian style for your home, you need to remember that it is far from luxury and excesses. Therefore, when designing the space of an apartment, restraint must be exercised. Everything in the room should be in moderation: furniture, bright accents, calm colors, and decor. It is necessary to leave free space, but do not limit yourself in the necessary things, storage places or decorations.

But useless things in the environment should not be. As a decor, it is better to use lamps of a simple geometric shape, textured fabrics, shelves, and not figurines, a service or lambrequins on the windows.

3.Basic finishing materials. Naturalness and naturalness - this is the basis of the Scandinavian style. Therefore, wood, stone, brick or very high-quality imitations for them are used in the decoration. For example, parquet with a natural wood pattern is laid on the floor. The walls and ceiling are leveled with light plaster and covered with snow-white putty, and then with paint. And when creating an accent wall in the kitchen, bedroom or living room, brick or stone masonry is used.

And also wooden furniture, shelves, panels, decor - they try to leave all this in an unpainted as natural form as possible so as not to “break” the final exposure.

4.Color palette. Since there is very little sunlight in the northern countries, they try to compensate for this in the interiors by using light colors. That is why it is preferable to decorate the walls and ceiling in white. But today, milky, beige, pearl gray, blue, light green and pink have been added to it as the main ones.

However, in the style of Scandi you can see black, etc. bright "tasty" paint. They often make out non-standard parts, accessories. But these are just touches!

5.characteristic furniture. At the heart of the interior in the Scandi style is the so-called hygge. Those. everything that decorates the environment should evoke a feeling of comfort, relaxation and coziness. All components of furniture and decor should have simple shapes and rounded lines, as well as be made of natural materials.

As an option, compact comfortable wooden armchairs with legs, chairs, a sofa, as well as round or oval mirrors, textured textiles and geometric lamps. But do not forget that all this should be in harmony with each other, setting you up for relaxation and a pleasant pastime.

6.Indoor plants and flowers. Since the natural component is important in the Scandinavian interior, you can’t do without indoor plants and flowers. Every kind of flora from modest cacti and succulents to huge dieffenbachia and lyre-shaped ficus will find their place on the windowsills and in the corners of the living room, bedroom in the Scandinavian style.

If your lifestyle does not allow you to "start" a living plant, then decorate your house with at least dried flowers or a herbarium. In a pinch, hang pictures or bring textiles into a floral print setting.
