Fiery fireworks, fellow flower growers!

At first, my spathiphyllum did not want to consistently delight me with its white sails. But in three years I found a common language with him, and now I admire and rejoice) Today I will tell you how to start caring for spathiphyllum in the spring, so that the flower will make you happy too 🌺

Spathiphyllum is called "Women's happiness" for the belief that brings us, the fair sex, good luck in our personal lives. True or not - I find it difficult to answer (not complaining!), But I know for sure: The houseplant looks great and blooms profusely almost all year round except in the winter months!

Let's figure it out first: why spring. Spathiphyllum does not have a pronounced rest period. But due to the short daylight hours and generally poor lighting, the house plant slows down its growth in November-March and rarely blooms.

Now, in the spring, spathiphyllum is ready to actively grow and show itself in all its glory. And perhaps bring happiness to the owner! Her task is to help the flower with all her might - to give what he needs.

You need to start, of course, with transplants

Spathiphyllum grows rapidly, releasing new and new divisions. This is only on hand - more room for arrows with buds. And the replacement of already depleted soil with a new, nutritious one - "knight's move" in the spring care of "Women's happiness".

Author's advice: I transplant spathiphyllum every spring. And I advise you. A houseplant always has enough space and food

One nuance. Don't take huge pot. Otherwise, in the pursuit of building new roots and emerald greens, the spathiphyllum will miss the most important thing - abundant flowering. I have no doubt that the leaves of "Women's Happiness" are very decorative, despite their simplicity. But we are still waiting for the white sails to rise, right?

Analyze if the conditions of the place where the pot stands are suitable for the plant

My friend, Marina, piled spathiphyllum on the corner of the kitchen cabinet, somewhere under the ceiling, and even away from the window. And it is very upsetting that "Women's Happiness" blooms only 1-2 times a year.
On the other hand, social networks are filled with panicky requests for help with illustrations: leaves burnt around the edges are attributed to the notorious lack of moisture. By the way, I'll write below why this delusion is very dangerous.

So, what is bad, I tried to explain with examples: shadow and bright lighting with direct rays.

But about perfect location for a pot with "Women's happiness":

Another great sample from the Internet
  • east or west window, where the sun is in the morning and evening, respectively;
  • window with bright lighting and additional shading;
  • a window with bright sunlight, in front of which trees or shrubs grow - a barrier from direct rays;
  • a place (stand, table) by a sunny window of south, south-east or south-west orientation

And now about watering

The Chopin variety is definitely not to be confused with anything. Just look at the graceful elongation of the bracts

It is a mistake to think that the moisture-loving spathiphyllum needs to be watered endlessly and it is a priori impossible to fill it. As far as possible! Darkened leaves drooping like rags are a sure sign of root rot and the need for an emergency transplant to save.

I always let the top layer of earth dry for a day, and the next morning I hurry to the pot with a watering can. You can also pamper your favorite flower with spraying and hot showers.. The latter activates the processes of growth and development of spathiphyllum as a whole. Therefore, both in the spring and in the summer, souls for "Women's Happiness" are mandatory for me. On average, 1-2 times a month.

Cherry on the cake - effective feeding

What kind of dressing is not on sale now! It can take a very long time to describe what and how is suitable for spathiphyllum. I will write my circuit. The answer is, it works! 😊

  • FROM March to September inclusive - complex mineral fertilizers for decorative flowering. It is imperative that the composition is dominated by phosphorus or phosphorus with potassium together. I use it both in liquid and powder form. The frequency of application is 2 times a month.
  • According to my mood, I spoil the spathiphyllum with foliar feeding with the means from the previous paragraph. The instructions for them indicate the preferred concentration of the spray solution. On a sheet from a spray bottle. A nice bonus is that nutrients are absorbed by the houseplant much faster. And the result comes faster)
  • My favorite top dressing, after which the spathiphyllum will have no chance of being left without flowers, is a solution of potassium monophosphate on a leaf. You should not abuse such doping: in April and July it is enough!
