We make a mobile bed. We grow cabbage seedlings in plastic boxes. Life hack from savvy gardeners
If you have not yet grown cabbage seedlings in plastic boxes, then try this method, which is used by savvy gardeners. They share them on the Internet.
The mini mobile bed is easy to use. It can be moved with your hands. During the day, you can put the seedlings in the greenhouse, and at night they can be removed to the house if frosts are expected outside. Usually they start sowing cabbage for seedlings in April.
The depth of the box is about 13 cm, this is enough for the development, growth of cabbage seedlings before transplanting into the ground to a permanent place.
Before pouring earth into the box, you need to put a piece of agrofibre or dry grass on the bottom, which should be tamped, and also spread on the sides so that the soil does not fall out of the container.
The soil can be used from the garden. Fertile soil should be poured onto grass or agrofibre with a layer of at least 8-10 cm.
After that, you should outline the grooves no more than 1 cm deep. You should have 3 to 5 rows. Then you need to sow the seedlings at a distance of 3 cm between the seeds. You can sprinkle the grooves with fertile soil from the store or peat.
Further, the grooves need to be tamped so that the soil is in better contact with the seeds. Then it is necessary to carefully moisten the crops so as not to wash the seeds to the surface.
After the planting procedure, the box with soil can be put into the greenhouse and covered with film on top. If there is no greenhouse, then you can create a mini-greenhouse under the arches.
For the emergence of fast sprouts of cabbage, it is necessary that the temperature of the air and earth warms up to + 18- + 20 degrees. As soon as sprouts appear, the temperature needs to be lowered, and for this you need to take out the seedlings outside during the day. But drafts should not be allowed, because young plants of this culture do not like them.
At night, you can cover the box with agrofibre or bring it home before the onset of possible frost. Instead of plastic boxes, you can use special containers for seedlings, which are sold in horticultural centers, or purchase cassettes.
Many gardeners grow cabbage seedlings in plastic cups in which they sow seeds. Then these containers are put into boxes so that it is convenient to carry, holding on to the handles.
