Since with a stupid approach, even at the initial stage (during design), it can subsequently turn into a complex and poorly exploited space with a mass of various flaws that will nullify all its positive sides. And in order for you to avoid such an unfavorable outcome following the results of the repair and arrangement of your miniature apartment, I will tell you about 4 common mistakes.
Knowing which will allow you turn your small space into a multifunctional apartment with all conviniences.
Mistake # 1. Let there be a chandelier - expensive and huge. Many, out of habit, consider only one place for a massive lamp: in the center of the apartment or above the guest area. As a result, a bulky chandelier visually “eats up” part of the space, and the apartment seems cramped even during the day, consisting only of a hall.
Keep in mind that each zone should have its own corresponding lighting, and then the apartment will look spacious and bright. To do this, it is necessary to provide: lamps above the dining table or working area in the kitchen, a spot in the living room area, sconces in the hallway, a floor lamp near the bed, etc.
Mistake # 2. I went into the apartment and into bed. The sofa / bed in the center of the studio apartment is something! It will be almost impossible to relax on such a bed, since family members will have to ply past it constantly, noise will be heard from entrance, etc. Not to mention the fact that against the background of a massive sofa, all other furniture will lose its meaning, turning into a background for beds. Therefore, the isolation of the recreation area from other space in the apartment comes to the fore in interior design.
So, if it is not possible to make a sleeping area in the far corner of the apartment, try to at least isolate it with curtains, a decorative screen or a high cabinet to the ceiling.
Mistake number 3. Everything in one color. Some do not bother when choosing finishing materials, trying to save money. The entire floor is covered with a discount laminate, and the walls are covered with the same wallpaper, the kitchen and bathroom areas are laid out with identical tiles, etc. In general, another version of the hostel, where everything was painted the same, without individuality and imagination!
So, if you want to create a truly cozy atmosphere that you would like to return to at the end working day, try not to save on finishing materials and bring more color, size and textures. But be careful, as the color palette needs to be consistent and have a common base.
Mistake # 4. Forget about the past. Massive low furniture, carpets on the walls and floors, heavy colored curtains on the windows, etc. As a result, there is nowhere to turn around, there is no place for things, it's hard to breathe.
A miniature studio requires a different approach! Namely, multifunctional compact furniture on legs: a transforming table, a sofa bed... The curtains on the windows are light, monochromatic. Mirrored surfaces and more open floor space. It seems to be nothing supernatural, nevertheless, it will help you transform a small room into a stylish and comfortable space.
