Well and concrete septic tank: pros and cons, our reasons for choosing

click fraud protection

The water supply of the house has two options - connecting to the central network or equipping an autonomous source. Each option has limitations in operation, as well as its pros and cons. FORUMHOUSE participant juliamaltseva shared her story, why she chose an autonomous option - a well, and also why a concrete septic tank was installed.

What prompted to make a well

Sewerage and a well are something that a modern country house is unlikely to do without. Many people face difficulties in choosing. The well was designed in the house. There are advantages and disadvantages here. Someone discouraged us, someone, on the contrary, supported us.

What those who are against the well in the house said: in fact, this is the only argument - if something happens, there is little chance of getting it fixed. Our argument for this is that something global happens, then such a well workover will be at a price comparable to the price of a new well, if it is a minor repair, then we risk that we need to pull out pump with pipe. But for us it is enough to place a window or a door next to the well so that there is where to pull this pipe out.

Our main argument for placing a well in a house is that we are building a house not for permanent residence, but winters in the Urals are severe and, therefore, a well and the water supply to the house must be well insulated, monitor this and heat it in winter (this is a heating cable and therefore constant additional expenses). The cost of work on the organization of a well in Yekaterinburg and the region is approximately in the same range, so we turned to the guys who did geology for us.

How the issue with the sewerage was solved

Initially, we had: a high level of groundwater and, moreover, a water protection zone. Here everything is different, the neighbors said - they were prescribed a septic tank, and when we read the laws, we got on the lines that there should be no discharges - from the word at all.

We planned a septic tank and initially looked at TOPAS and the like (they are familiar to us, many have just such). But the cost of editing, which was announced to us, was exorbitant. This was tied exclusively to the complexity of the soils, which squeezes out septic tanks and therefore it is necessary to do everything more complicated than standard installation schemes. The average price tag came out about 200 thousand. (septic tank about 80 thousand, delivery, installation). Considering that we needed to install 2 septic tanks, the prospect was not at all pleasing.

And here we were advised concrete septic tanks, no, it's not easy three concrete rings - this is the same TOPAS, only it is concrete. The manufacturer's website indicates that they are suitable for a high level of groundwater and, most importantly, are completely sealed, can be used as storage tanks. Well, the price, septic tank and installation came out 1.5 times cheaper. The production is located in our city: you can come and see everything for yourself, ask all your questions. We, of course, went and touched everything live.

P.S

We have not used either one, so I cannot definitely recommend something yet, but in terms of work, in general, everything is not bad. It turned out not without problems, but, most importantly, everything was done and at the best price.
