Effective treatment of onion sets from diseases and pests before planting.

Every gardener is engaged in the cultivation of onions in the beds. This crop can be planted not only in spring, but also in late autumn. Winter onions give a richer and healthier harvest.

There are some rules for planting onion sets that guarantee an excellent harvest:

- high quality planting material. After going through the onion sets, it is worth discarding soft and diseased seeds without sparing. Nothing good will grow out of them. And, if you left a poor-quality onion, then it will infect healthy seeds.

- disinfection of onions before planting. It is very easy to do this: you can simply in a basin, or you can fill in planting material into a nylon stocking. For weighting, you can put a stone there. Then in a jar or in a saucepan, dilute 1 tablespoon of coarse salt and 2 g of potassium permanganate in three liters of water. Put onions in a stocking in the resulting solution and leave for one hour. It is important that the whole onion is covered with water.

- washing of the planting material with clean running water. Be sure to rinse the salt-manganese solution from the onion set. If not washed off, the onions will not grow very well.

Using this method of disinfection of onion sets for several years now, I always have a wonderful harvest. The onion grows simply enormous and completely healthy and is not affected by the onion fly.
