Made a designer renovation, and a month later flooded the neighbors
Not so long ago, I successfully completed my first remote project. The result was a renovation that completely satisfied the customer. I took into account both technical and design issues. But as experience has shown, troubles can happen after the delivery of the object. What happened, I will tell you a little later.
Good afternoon dear friends!
It all started with the request of a young man - let's call him Andrey. He wanted to make repairs in his parents' apartment. An apartment in Rostov-on-Don - 300 km from me. Getting there is a whole problem. We decided not to waste money and time and work remotely.
Andrey decided to look for specialists, buy materials and monitor the work on a daily basis. I took over the design project and remote supervision. So they started to work.
1.Design project. Andrey presented me a plan of an apartment with accurate measurements of all premises. Fortunately, his requests were not extraordinary. Therefore, the project turned out to be "light", without design eccentricities. And the payment was appropriate: 700 rubles per square meter.
What was included in the project:
- a planning solution that reflected all the requirements, ideas and wishes of the customer;
- 3D visualization and other working documentation.
2.Purchase and approval of materials. Most of the materials were bought in a construction hypermarket in Rostov-on-Don. They bought it after the approval of the project - this is logical. But it turned out that Andrei had already prepared plumbing fixtures and accessories for the bathroom even earlier, which he happily informed me about. Apparently he decided to show off his thrifty.
Unlike him, I was not happy. In my opinion, a Czech installation in a bathroom for 17 thousand rubles is more appropriate than a Polish toilet. But it had already been bought at a sale for 7 thousand rubles, and Andrey did not want to return it. It was useless to argue.
3.The result of work in 3 months. They dismantled everything and everyone. Then they replaced all the wiring (added sockets, switches and lamps), as well as plumbing - pipes, bathroom, sink, toilet. The walls were leveled, plastered and plastered, the ceilings were made of plasterboard in two levels. We carried out painting work, laid the laminate and installed interior doors.
While the renovation and finishing work was going on, we ordered a kitchen and other furniture.
An unpleasant circumstance
I was unhappy with the fact that Andrey bought the materials even before the design project and the start of the renovation. And not in vain! He chose cheap plumbing and the same accessories. Including flexible toilet liner, which soon made a dramatic statement about itself. When there was no one at home, it just cracked, and instantly flooded not only fresh repairs in the apartment, but also the neighbors below.
Andrey told about the flood when I asked him for photographs of the renovation for my portfolio. He scolded himself very much. I remembered how I advised him to insure his home not only for the duration of the renovation, but also for later. As a result, Andrey saved about 11 thousand rubles on plumbing and installation, and spent about 80 thousand on renovating his apartment. The damage to the neighbors was estimated at 178 thousand rubles.
If Andrey had insured the apartment, the payments would have covered not only the costs of repairs in his apartment, but the damage to neighbors. At the same time, the monthly payment for insurance is cheaper than a cup of coffee. Imagine just a cup of coffee a month!
Andrey is not alone - the culture of property insurance is just emerging here. But after the flood, he agreed with me and insured the apartment in "Mango insurance".
Learning from other people's mistakes is profitable, albeit unfair! So I suggest you calculate how much insurance costs for your apartment. Isn't your calmness worth it? And according to the promo code DECORDESIGN you will receive two months as a gift.
Thank you for your attention and I will be glad Your comments!
