Tell me how I Sterilize jars in the Microwave. Fast and reliable way
Every housewife knows firsthand how laborious the process of preparing blanks for the winter is. Along with the processing of products (vegetables, berries, fruits), sterilization of cans also takes a lot of time and effort.
Some housewives process jars "the old fashioned way", dipping them into boiling water, others just pour boiling water over them, and still others wash them with soap and send them to dry in the oven.
I prefer to sterilize jars in the microwave. Having tried this method once, many years ago, every year I am more and more convinced that a faster and more efficient method of sterilizing cans, probably, simply cannot be invented.
The most important thing is to organize the process correctly. I am ready to share with you my experience of sterilizing cans in the microwave, accumulated over the years.
Why sterilize jars?
The purpose of sterilizing cans before canning is the complete destruction of all microorganisms living on the walls of the containers. Unfortunately, even the most thorough washing of cans with plain water and improvised detergents will not get rid of all pathogenic microorganisms, as a result, canned products will be unfit for consumption or even an "explosion" will occur banks.
Unfortunately, both phenomena are painfully familiar to me, I had to deal with them every year, until the time when I learned from one of my acquaintances that it is possible to sterilize jars in the microwave.
We sterilize the jars correctly
The process of sterilizing cans in the microwave can be conditionally divided into several stages, and now I will tell you about each of them:
· Thoroughly wash the jars, until they are perfectly clean, so that, as they say, "to shine";
· Inspect all containers for cracks or chips. Banks that have even minor damage are not suitable for blanks.
Place a thick cloth on the microwave saucer. This item is not mandatory, but from my own experience I will say that it is better not to neglect it, since the fabric does not allow the jar to "slide out" during the sterilization process.
· Pour water into each jar: 2 tablespoons into small jars and 3 tablespoons into 3 liter jars. Place the jars in the microwave and set the timer for a few minutes. Small cans are set up while large cans are placed on their side.
· Look at the liquid in the jars, as soon as about one third of the water boils away, you can turn off the microwave, but leave the jars in it for another 2-3 minutes. The water in the cans, as it evaporates, pours its steam over the inner surface of the can, thereby eliminating all pathogenic microorganisms.
Now you know how to quickly and reliably sterilize cans in the microwave. I am sure that once you have tried this method, you cannot refuse it.
