Humic fertilizers for garden and vegetable garden: description, properties, methods of application

Gardeners and gardeners tend to use environmentally friendly organic fertilizers, which include manure and compost. It's affordable, practical and effective. Agriculture, on the other hand, is focused on mineral fertilizers, popularly called a frightening word: chemicals. But in recent decades, experts have come to the conclusion that all this chemistry is making fertile soils unusable. This has become a problem. Then, humates came to their aid - natural fertilizers of factory production. What is it and how is it useful in an ordinary garden - let's figure it out.

What are humic substances and how they appeared

Humic substances are the main component of fertile soil, which are rich in chernozems. They themselves represent humus of organic matter (vegetation, animals), which occurred naturally. The analogue of this is ordinary humus - compost. But it's not that simple.

In nature, dead organic matter has been deposited in layers for millions of years and, as can be assumed, in a form inaccessible to plants, namely in coal, peat, sapropel. So these richest deposits of organic matter, pressed into solid rocks, contain humic acids. These acids are the best nutrition for plants, containing micro- and macroelements, natural growth stimulants.

Previously, they were inaccessible to people due to the difficulty of processing, but modern scientists have found a way to extract this wealth from the depths and translate it into a form accessible to plants. So, first in agriculture, and then among ordinary gardeners, humic fertilizers appeared. Humates, in fact, are pure fertilizers from nature's warehouses, to which humans have access.

How to apply humic fertilizers

There are dozens of types of humic fertilizers of both domestic and foreign production on the market. They are available in pasty, liquid and dry form. The most popular are liquid humic fertilizers - this is due to their versatility.

Treatment with humates is carried out in three ways:

• seed treatment;
• root feeding;
• spraying.

Seed treatment

Presowing treatment is carried out by soaking the seed (seeds, tubers) in 0.05–0.1% fertilizer solution for a period of 18 to 24 hours. This method gives good germination and survival of seeds in extreme conditions.

Root dressing

This type of treatment is carried out by conventional watering: this is done by introducing a 1.5% solution into the root zone. It is recommended to carry out root dressing 3-4 times a year:

• two weeks after sowing;
• during flowering;
• in the initial phase of active fruiting;
• in the second phase of fruiting, to prolong its duration and abundance.

Leaf treatment (spraying)

This procedure is also carried out with a weak solution of the drug (0.5–1%). Its distinctive feature is its fast effect. Spraying is carried out at least twice a season, but not more often than once every two weeks.

What does the use of humates give?

Effect of humic fertilizers on plants:

• improve seed germination;
• enhance tuber germination;
• increase the survival rate of seedlings, root seedlings;
• develop the root system;
• supplement the plant diet with micro and macro elements;
• help to get through vulnerable phases;
• increase immunity;
• accelerate the ripening period and increase the yield;
• improve the quality of the fruit;
• restore the soil;
• prolong the shelf life of the crop.

It is difficult to overestimate the importance of humic substances in the life of plants - they provide a lot of advantages, and, most importantly, they are a pure, natural remedy, despite the fact that they are produced at the plant.
