DIY wood concrete production for monolithic walls. Is there any reason?

Each self-builder chooses a certain wall material for himself based on his experience and preferences. There are many who choose arbolite or, in another way, woodchip. The pros and cons of the material in this article will not be considered. There are both.

The simplest thing is to purchase blocks from local producers. But there are those who are not afraid of difficulties and make the wall material on their own. For the manufacture of wood concrete blocks, forms are needed:

The cost of metal is not small, but 2-3 sets are needed. Therefore, their purchase makes sense only for the purpose of organizing the production of products for sale. There are plastic molds. But they are not cheap either - the price is from 500 rubles. And for a work shift you will need about 50 forms.

The best option is to fill the monolithic walls of the house from wood concrete.

Wooden racks are installed, on which the formwork (boards, but better laminated plywood) is attached and the wood concrete is poured (rammed). The advantage of this technique: spend less time shifting the material from place to place and there will be no cold bridges in the masonry of the walls in the form of a layer of mortar.

So, what you need:

We need chips. And for its production, you need a chip cutter and sawmill waste (pasta). They are given away for a symbolic price - if only they were taken out (like sawdust). Because of these, firewood is of low quality.

You can make a chip cutter yourself. There are plenty of diagrams, videos and tips on the Internet. But the quality of the equipment will depend on you. If you purchase a factory one, then prices start from the following values:

This is not the most powerful hardware. With more performance and costs higher. Plus you need a set of knives.

Next is the correct recipe. Arbolit is wood chips bonded with concrete. But the chips must be processed (to prevent the release of sugars from them) so that they do not destroy the concrete. To do this, use: aluminum sulfate; calcium chloride; sodium silicate (liquid glass); slaked lime. Mainly used are calcium chloride and water glass. Consumption of liquid glass: 1 glass for 1 bucket of water.

The composition of wood concrete per m3 and when measured with buckets and bags. Try not to add a lot of water - the material will be stronger.

An example of the process of erecting monolithic walls from wood concrete is shown in the video:

Also in the video there is information from the author with his mixing proportions.

My opinion on this technology. In my opinion, it takes place if you are located far from the production of wall materials, blocks, for example, 300-500 km in some village. But there is a sawmill that will give you sawing waste (pasta) free of charge (or at a symbolic price). You just have to bring in cement, formwork material and erect walls. In this scheme, you save on the delivery of blocks over a long distance and the material itself for you is practically at the price of cement.

But the price of the chip cutter reduces the savings. Who thinks about such a production - consider whether it makes sense to independently produce this wall material. Or write about your experience, if any.
