Rosselkhoznadzor spoke about the rules for keeping bees

May has arrived and summer is just around the corner. This is the traditional start of the season for hive owners. The Rosselkhoznadzor in the Pskov and Leningrad regions considered it necessary to explain to the country's beekeepers the rules for keeping honey bees. The rules apply to citizens who give birth to this type of insect to obtain beekeeping products on the site for Private household plots (personal subsidiary plots), as well as for their cultivation, sale, pollination of plants in agriculture and dr.

Rules for keeping honey bees

The inhabitants of the Russian Federation indicate the breeding and keeping of honey bees in the settlement in the federal law and the order of the Ministry of Agriculture No. 194. It provides information on the requirements related to: insect health (diagnostics, preventive measures, etc.); with the placement of bee colonies; with beautification of apiaries. The Rosselkhoznadzor has published the basic veterinary rules to help beekeepers.

Key points

• A veterinary and sanitary passport is issued for each apiary.
• A stationary apiary should be fenced and planted with berry bushes (currants, raspberries, etc.), fruit trees.
• Bees are housed in reliable hives (without breakage, on pegs or stands), painted and numbered.
• The hives are spaced at least three meters from the borders of the adjacent land plots, and the entrances are directed to the center of the plot beekeeper (if there is a deaf separating fence with a height of more than 2 meters, restrictions on the distance from neighbors are not indicated).
• The hives are placed taking into account the mandatory distance between them - at least 3-3.5 m, and between the rows - at least 10 meters.

• More than 150 bee colonies are not allowed in one apiary.
• If we are talking about private household plots, the number of bee colonies is no more than two per 100 sq. m.

Rosselkhoznadzor reminds beekeepers to follow the rules and regulations for keeping honey bees, if diseases in a bee family, contact the veterinary service and do not forget about the safety of people who are close to apiaries.
