Why it is impossible to insulate the EPSP frame house: a specialist's answer
A frame house needs high-quality insulation. What kind of insulation to choose for your frame - each developer decides for himself. This raises many questions and disputes. Participants our portal clarified and answered the frequently asked question: why is it impossible to insulate the EPSP frame house?

"Who can explain to me specifically why it is impossible to insulate the walls of the EPSP frame house? The fact that it is vapor-proof and there will be moisture has been heard about. But when we insulate the house with mineral wool (so that the walls supposedly breathe), we still make a vapor barrier with gluing the seams. As a result of installing a vapor barrier, we get a vapor-tight surface, both in the case of EPS, and in the case of cotton wool. In both cases, steam will not pass, unless, of course, everything is done well. "

"That's right. EPPS is vapor-tight and therefore not suitable for installation inside a frame wall. Any mineral wool, on the contrary, is vapor-permeable, like a vapor barrier (membrane). Only the vapor barrier is permeable in one direction: it releases steam from the house, but does not let it back in. The whole secret is this: the membrane has a certain coefficient of vapor permeability, that is, moisture and air come out in a certain controlled volume, which allows you to remove moisture, but leave heat. If the joints of the membrane are not glued (a typical mistake), then all the heat will be blown out by a draft through these huge slots. This often happens when the vapor barrier membrane is installed incorrectly and all joints and abutments are not glued. "

"Spray foam and penoplex do not allow water vapor to pass through. When the foam is installed in the wall, the condensate has nowhere to go, except in the wooden frame of the walls - there it goes and the wood, accordingly, rotts. In the case of filling the walls of PPU, in general, the entire surface is closed from the inside. That is, no air can get into the wooden frame, nothing threatens this frame, but you need ensure adequate ventilation inside the room, otherwise, on the windows and walls inside the house, condensate".
