Hello dear guests and subscribers of my channel. Today I want to talk about a rather specific topic, namely, sockets mounted directly into the floor.

We will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of such an installation, and also determine in which cases it is better to use this type of installation.

Built-in sockets in the floor - a functional solution

All of us swamis are accustomed to the classic way of mounting sockets on walls or partitions. This method has been tested for decades and does not cause any particular difficulties for craftsmen or even for novice electricians.

But life situations are completely different. And, at times, there may be such a need to connect any equipment that stands in the center of a large (or not so) room.

Of course, the easiest option would be to throw the carrier, but always stumbling over the wire is so-so pleasure.

You can solve the problem once and for all by mounting the socket directly in the floor. I also want to talk about this option in detail.

Subtleties of mounting the socket in the floor

So, you have decided to mount the socket in the floor. Most likely, you will turn to specialists and some of them may advise you to mount the most common outlet with only a plastic cover (or without it at all).

Floor sockets without special protection

So, this option is not entirely correct and here's why.

The first problem is the fragility of the material. Then an electrical appliance is not connected to the outlet and there is no table or chairs near it, there is a chance of stepping on the closed lid and thereby breaking it.

The second problem is the likelihood of banal flooding such an outlet. After all, we all do wet cleaning. And if you spill water, then naturally it will accumulate at the lowest point, and such a point will be our niche where the socket is installed.

There is a solution to these problems, and it consists in installing sockets specially designed for these purposes. They are from different manufacturers, for example one of them.

This is just one of the possible options, and in fact (if you search well) there are quite a few of them.

Yes, such sockets are much better protected from mechanical damage and from moisture too. But you still need to take precautions.

Otherwise, the sockets and the principle of their installation are absolutely no different from the installation of sockets on the walls.

The main condition for such work: let the master do the installation and do not save on components.

Remember the Russian proverb: "A miser pays twice."

If you liked the material, do not forget to put your thumbs up and subscribe. Take care of yourself and thanks for reading to the end!
