Repair of the KEMZ door lock (replacement of the cylinder mechanism)
Cylinder door locks are common on the market and are often used in everyday life. However, like any locking devices, they are not perfect and may require repair over time.
The need to repair the lock on the front door appears for various reasons, such as a defect in the key or failure of the mechanism.
Changing the lock may be required due to a lost key or moving to a new apartment.
You can solve the problem with the help of a specialist, but it is faster and cheaper to replace it yourself.
Moreover, it is not at all necessary to change the entire lock. Generally, only the driving part needs to be replaced - cylinder mechanism (it is also called "core" or "larva").
Let us analyze the process step by step, using the example of the KEMZ ZN1-M1 overhead lock.
To replace the core, the lock itself must be removed from the door.
The lock case in the basic configuration is fastened with four screws (if installed on a wooden door) or bolts, as in the case under consideration, when installed on metal - two on the side of the handle and two on the front plank.
The internal mechanism of the lock is covered with a plate that is secured with a pair of screws.
To gain access to the place where the core is attached, you need to remove it. Scroll through the gallery:
After the metal plate has been removed, you can detach the core, which is also held on it with two screws.
That's it, the old core is unscrewed, you can install a new one according to the same scheme, only in the reverse order.
