We remove the washbasin correctly: step by step instructions
When dismantling a washbasin, the most important thing is not to damage the rest of the plumbing in the bathroom. Before starting work, you must provide yourself with all the necessary tools:
• adjustable wrench;
• pliers;
• boards for support;
• bucket or basin;
• hacksaw for metal.
After all the preparatory steps, you can proceed to dismantling. The first thing that needs to be done before immediately removing the washbasin is to shut off the water supply to avoid flooding the neighbors, then open the taps to drain the remaining water from the pipe.
Then everything is done in stages:
1. Examine the sink-pipe connection system.
2. The nut connection is opened by unscrewing it with an adjustable wrench. If the joints are soldered, you can disconnect them with a hacksaw for metal.
3. Place a bucket or basin directly under the siphon to prevent excess water from spilling onto the floor.
4. Wrap a rag or rag around the nut that wraps the siphon.
5. Loosen the nuts that hold the siphon on both sides. You will need pliers for this.
6. Secure the siphon and completely unscrew the loosened nuts. The siphon can now be removed.
7. Now you can start dismantling the crane. If it is attached to a work surface, disconnect the hinged hoses on both sides.
8. The junction of the sink with the wall for wall mounting should be cut off with a metal hacksaw.
9. When attaching the sink to the counter, first, plank supports from prepared boards are installed, and first the stand is dismantled, and then the sink.
10. When placing the sink in the countertop, the rim attachment points are first cut off, after which it is removed.
11. The final step is to remove the tap from the surface and dispose of the old sink.
If all the recommendations are followed, dismantling the sink is not too difficult and does not require any special skills and talents to cope with this matter on their own, without the involvement of expensive specialists.
On the one hand, you can hire a craftsman who will both remove the old one and install the new sink. It is both faster and more convenient. But, on the other hand, dismantling works are equal to at least 50 percent of the cost of installation.
Therefore, it is inappropriate to overpay to the master for work that is quite capable of doing on their own, just observing all the points of the instructions and safety precautions.
