Diary of building your home. Part 4. Tips for reinforcing aerated concrete masonry

After making the grooves for the reinforcement (and dusting them) in the masonry of the first row, you need to cut the reinforcement of the required length. I used composite (not as everyone does according to the usual tech solutions). And that's why:

• Reinforcement of every fourth row of aerated concrete is necessary to prevent shrinkage deformations. Fiberglass fittings (SPA) cope with this task;
• The absence of reinforcement in the masonry of walls made of blocks with a width of 400 mm is allowed. We are listening to Gleb Grinfeld on his channel (Chairman of the Association of Aerated Concrete Producers). But I still decided to make reinforcement;
• Convenience of delivering SPA in bays with your own transport and price (we have a SPA manufacturer in our city).

There is an inconvenience in unwinding the spa bay. But after looking at the advice in one video, I do this:

I place the bay inside the cross on the cross of the laid boards (or bars), unwind the wire fastening the bay, being in the center and pressing the boards. The bay begins to unwind itself. You straighten your hands, helping the spa straighten. I do it in an open place, with a diameter of at least 10 m.

SPA purchased with a diameter of 10 mm. 20 rubles / m2 Coils of 50 m. You can use 8 mm, but overpaid for one reason: 10 mm is unwound in a more straight line, it is easier to put it in a gate, it does not bend in it. It turns out like this:

Many will ask again - how do I fold the spa in the corners? I repeat that it does not work as a reinforcement of a foundation or an armored belt - you do not need to bend anything. These are not metal ties in the masonry of old churches, which pulled the building together, did not allow the walls to part.

Next, you need to take out the fittings, fill the strobe with glue for aerated concrete and put the SPA in the glue. The glue was purchased from the same manufacturer as the aerated concrete:

When filling the grooves with glue, I decided to try the method that I saw in one self-builder:

Pouring glue through a plastic bottle with a cut out sidewall. Yes, it turns out neatly, but for a long time. You also spend time filling the bottle with glue. And after you drown the reinforcement and remove the excess glue with a spatula, all beauty is lost. As a result, there is no difference between the method of pouring the glue with a bucket and this long method through the bottle.

All the work on the construction of the first row of masonry took me about 10 evenings (with incomplete days off) - about 4 hours of work per day. I thought it would be faster. But this is the most important row in the laying of walls. He did everything as much as possible and did not rush.
