Repair of LED bulbs. Replaced the LED with a regular soldering iron

click fraud protection

This is not the first time I undertake to repair Led lamps, but for the first time decided to change the burnt out LED on a second-hand, using a long-disassembled light bulb, only more powerful. Before that, doing repair of LED lamps, just picking out the broken LED from the board, trying to solder the contacts under it and that's it - the light bulb continued to shine for many months, but a little brighter due to the increased load on the diodes.

This time the light bulb is low-power - 4 W. To my surprise, the diffuser cover is not glued to the base part, but simply snaps onto it, although at first I tried to detach it with a knife until the top bounced off.

A broken LED is detected by a black dot on the "back", which is clearly visible on a yellow background (photo 1). He was only slightly forged with a knife and he flew off. I think that you can remove the working diode in the same way, but I decided to play it safe and heated the platform from below with a soldering iron, and then quite easily removed the diode with tweezers.

I didn't have to bother with the correct position of the diode, since the sizes of the contacts are different. The new diode is the same in terms of contact configuration and dimensions, so it was easy to put it on the board correctly.

I had to work a little with tin soldering on the contact pads for the diode being installed. It had to be soldered closer to the outer edges. Thanks to a thin enough sting new soldering iron MATRIX 9130369 it worked out pretty well, though not perfect. There are such soldering irons on the Market:

If you look closely, you can see how the soldering looks in the picture below. It is also worthwhile to slightly scratch the gap between the platforms, just in case, to clean it.

Well, and then it’s a matter of technology: with tweezers I pressed the diode to the solders from above and soldered it on the sides. Gradually, the diode leveled out, although it remained slightly raised above the platform, which means nothing.

Everything worked out with the result, just a little melted the body with a sting. This is due to inexperience, I think, although inside it will still remain invisible.

The test, fortunately, showed that the bulb was fully operational. If you look at photo 5, it is clearly seen that all the diodes are working and throw light points to the bottom. One of the dots is a little dimmer than the others. This is the same soldered diode, which, apparently, turned out to be a little more powerful than the others.

I prepared a light bulb to illuminate the area at the entrance. For such purposes, it fits perfectly. So you can do something like this in your own country, if the case turns up, it will definitely not get worse than a burned out lamp. The work is delicate enough, but, as you can see, it can be successfully done with rather rough tools. I look forward to your opinions!

P.S. Later I considered that on the board from the old light bulb there is a marking of diodes - 2835. They can also be taken from the store:
