At the end of June, I definitely feed winter garlic in order to collect large heads. I share recipes (+ no chemicals!)
Fiery fireworks, fellow gardeners! Small harvest - grief in the family)
Looking to grow large garlic? Do as I do: top dressing at the end of June is the last and most important. In the article you will learn how to properly fertilize a culture for a "wow!" - effect, and two recipes for huge, solid heads - a traditional one with "chemistry" and a cool folk remedy.
From the author: I read about this trick a few years ago in an old binder of "garden" publications. I tried it - the advice is still relevant today. The result is really there!
Rules for the last feeding in the future of large winter garlic
- Better weatherfor fertilizing any plants - cloudy, without the scorching summer sun and nasty rain
- Does the weather forecast promise heat? It's just worth postponing the event for the evening
- The key to success lies in strict adherence to dosages. No "by eye!"
- The garlic is fed by carefully spilling the entire area of the garden. A portion "under the leaves" will certainly give the result, but not the same: far from all the roots will get the treat
- The most popular fertilizers are produced in the form of granules. And not all dissolve easily in water. The key to successful alchemy is to first stir the fertilizer in a glass of warm water, and then simply pour the concentrate into a feeding container filled with water of the required volume. Much easier than watching if a handful of fertilizer dissolves in a huge bucket, comrades!
When phosphorus comes to the rescue
Yes. Exactly phosphorus garlic needs at the last stage of its development. The macroelement will "answer" for building up the underground part. The cloves will be stronger and larger, and the whole long-awaited garlic head will be denser. Verified by me!
Subscribe to my channel: with interesting tips, the harvest will be bigger, and the flowers will be more beautiful!
The easiest option for those who are not afraid of chemicals is a good old friend superphosphate. Not afraid and doing the right thing. Indeed, by the time of harvest, there will be no nitrates and other harm in the cloves. But the lion's share of phosphorus (26%) will significantly increase the size of garlic heads. Therefore, feel free to stir 2 level tablespoons (this is about 40 g of superphosphate) in a bucket of water.
But some growers don't want to add chemistry. And their right! Organic fertilizer will come to the rescue - bone flourwhich also contains phosphorus. The effect is weaker, but it is there! It is enough to powder the beds with a product and spill the soil with warm water. This will make the flour work faster!
