How my mother-in-law taught me how to quickly clean the grill from the hood and why I like her method
When 7 years ago we were doing repairs in the kitchen and ordered new furniture and appliances, of course, I wanted a powerful hood over the gas stove. Since then I have been using it all the time and I am very satisfied - because when frying meat, fish and pies, no smell remains. This is what my assistant looks like:
However, like all hood owners, I was faced with the need to regularly clean the removable grill. Just imagine how much fat settles there every day, and it, in turn, attracts dust and soot like a magnet.
Cleaning the grill was a pain for me - at first I soaked it in some chemical agent (simultaneously inhaling it and risking burning my hands), then rubbed it with a brush for a long time, and the result was far from always pleasing.
But one day, when I ran into my mother-in-law on some business, I saw a grate wrapped in cellophane in her kitchen and became interested. It turns out that for many years now she has been easily cleaning her grate in an ingeniously simple way, which, moreover, does not harm either her hands or the environment. I am pleased to share with you a life hack from my mother-in-law:
So, here it is - my grill before cleaning:
Oh, this unpleasant yellow-gray bloom from grease and soot, b-r-r-r... ..
What we need:
White vinegar - 1 glass
Soda - 2 tablespoons
Citric acid - 1 tbsp
I put the lattice in a bag of suitable size - I have a simple "luggage", not necessarily new, the main thing is without holes.
Sprinkle with soda and citric acid, try to distribute the mixture evenly over the grate throughout the grate:
Then gently pour vinegar on top and…. watch the mixture sizzle….
I tie the bag tightly and forget about it for an hour.
I take out the grate and put it in the sink. By that time, the fat is literally pushed out, you just need to brush it off.
And the result is obvious:
Rinse thoroughly under running hot water and let dry.
Voila! Our grille is as good as new - just nice to see!
