Is it possible to make a pipe coupling from a PET bottle like a factory one

I decided to check if the self-made coupling will replace the factory version of the connection, it seems that everything is simple in execution, it must be done.

Manufacturing

I took two short pipes, purely for experiment, put on them factory cuffs. Then he cut a tube from a PET bottle, which will act as a coupling, competing with the factory connection. I planted plastic in the middle of the pipes and began to blow it with a construction hairdryer.

The first mistake was that I decided to do everything in fact, on two tubes, since they had to be held so that when the plastic shrinks, an even joint would turn out. Then the idea came up that the cuffs could be placed on one pipe, the design is still removable.

Leak test

It seemed to work out fine, and the connection inspired confidence, but without a test, it's just guesswork. I installed a plug on one end of the pipe and went to check in the bath.

I poured water into the structure, and began to examine the connection, noticed that, although rarely, but small droplets seep, and

this is no good. I began to analyze the failure, and realized that the pet tube itself should be longer, the cuffs are wider, but most importantly…

When shrinking, the plastic does not compress the gaskets enough, so such a tight fit is not obtainedas in factory connections. But well, life does not consist of luck alone, when I figure out how to solve this problem, I will try again.
