The other day I replaced the flexible eyeliner of one person who was simply forced to do so and was very surprised that it still has not burst. And this is most likely only because that they did not touch it for a long time and the place of destruction of the braid was not at the bend. Condensation simply dripped slowly and slowly on the eyeliner at one point.
Although after dismantling the hose literally crumbled in the hands, and since the rubber hardened, it very easily broke in half. Lucky, in short, that it ended that way.
Although manufacturers write the service life of both 5 and 10 years on flexible hoses, you should not pay much attention to this.
On the other hand, one and the same flexible eyeliner will last 2 years in one place, and 10 or more years in another. It all depends on the conditions and correct installation.
In a city apartment, the pressure in the system is usually higher and can reach 5-7 atmospheres. And in country houses the pressure is about 2.5-3 atmospheres. So, due to different loads, flexible liners of the same brand will come out of standing much faster than we expect.
It is worth checking the condition of the metal braid for the presence of rusty fistulas and if there are any, but the rubber tube is still intact inside, the liner still needs to be changed. Even when there is no rust, individual sharp wires are felt when feeling with the hand - this is a sign of the beginning of destruction. Sometimes, I do it with a piece of sponge, cotton wool or any rag. The protruding veins of the braid are well felt, as they cling to the fibers of the material.
In the heart, flexible eyeliner lasts about 5 years, then it is better to change it without waiting for problems. But if the flexible hose is of low quality and stands on hot water, also under high pressure, then it is likely that it will burst in 1.5-2 years. Especially it concerns complete hoses for inexpensive taps and mixers, a replacement for which, I think, is worth picking up right away.
Even with good flexible liners, problems will soon arise if they are not properly installed. Sometimes I meet bends at such an angle that the rubber tube inside the liner is almost half bent, or the hose is twisted in a spiral from an incorrect tightening of the nut.
These moments definitely destroy the hoses, as they create additional transverse and longitudinal loads on the veins of the braid, which sooner or later cannot withstand under the operating pressure of water in the system. And here it is not about the price of the product.
The rubber under the braid gradually loses its flexibility and elasticity, becomes tanned, so to speak, especially if the water hardness is increased. If the flexible hose is in a bent state for a long time, and then its position is accidentally or deliberately changed, then an absolutely whole hose can easily crack, especially a cheap one. So you should not allow bends with too small a radius.
The same sometimes happens when a water hammer occurs in the system - a sharp jump in pressure. Coarse rubber one day simply cannot withstand it.
In general, it is worth sometimes checking the condition of the flexible liner, not only gzaz, but turn it a little to see if whether the braid is leaky and whether there are dark brown spots or rust, otherwise it will have to be replaced and the terms of use are completely not important.
