Robot vacuum cleaner for 2000 rubles: a good purchase or money down the drain
I'll start my review by mentioning that I just hate sweeping. And I have a dog in my apartment, so I have to clean the floor every day. Desperate, I began to think about how to solve this problem. Once a robot vacuum cleaner was mentioned in the chat of dog lovers, and its happy owner assured that now she almost does not clean the floor on her own. At that moment, I realized that the robot vacuum cleaner would save me from the problems with the hated floor cleaning.
I decided not to buy an expensive vacuum cleaner and my choice fell on the Chinese Sweeper Robot, which I ordered from the Taobao website. The purchase cost me about 2,000 rubles excluding delivery.
Features and equipment
The technical characteristics of the robot vacuum cleaner are as follows:
• power 3.7 V;
• size 420x335x60 mm;
• battery 1800 mAh;
• the volume of the waste container is 400 ml.
When choosing a model, I compared the technical characteristics of cheap robots and more expensive ones. I note that there was practically no difference in technical characteristics between the models costing 1500-2000 rubles and the cost of 5000-8000 rubles. Only the more expensive vacuum cleaners had significant differences, the price of which started at 12,000 rubles. For this reason, I decided not to overpay and bought the cheaper version.
The robot was packed into a large branded box, after delivery everything was safe and sound. The kit included a charger from it, a cloth for wet cleaning and spare brushes. It is interesting that the vacuum cleaner itself does not have a wet cleaning function, but the Chinese believe that if you simply attach a napkin moistened with water to the bottom of the device, then this is quite a wet cleaning. Looking ahead, I will say that such an "engineering" solution is absolutely useless.
Cleaning process
The vacuum cleaner has only a power button, so it is impossible to select any cleaning mode or set additional settings. It is worth noting that this model of the vacuum cleaner is the simplest, and the more expensive models have different modes.
The device is fully charged in about 1.5 hours. A fully charged vacuum cleaner will clean in about 2-2.5 hours.
I have a combined floor covering in my apartment: in one room it is parquet, in the second room it is parquet with a carpet, and in the bathroom and kitchen it is tiled.
The vacuum cleaner handles the parquet floor, more or less dog hair, it collects dust and small specks. But in a room in which there is a carpet vacuum cleaner is absolutely useless. Firstly, if he moved off the carpet (and I have it thin, less than one centimeter in thickness), then he will not drive on him on his own. Secondly, it practically does not clean the carpet itself. After cleaning, even the smallest crumbs and motes, as they lay in one place, remained on it.
In 2-2.5 hours the vacuum cleaner will have time to vacuum one room with an area of 20-25 sq.m. Then it needs to be charged again and transferred to another cleaning room. Thus, this process is quite long.
The waste bin is made of plastic and has a built-in filter. The 400 ml volume fills up very quickly, after which the vacuum cleaner practically ceases to suck in the debris. Therefore, every 30-40 minutes you have to empty it. It takes literally a minute, but it still causes some inconvenience: you need to constantly monitor its filling and shake it out during it.
However, the vacuum cleaner came in handy for cleaning under the sofa: in order to collect dust there earlier, it was necessary to move it completely, and now I just run the robot there for 10-15 minutes. The robot's height is 6 cm, so it's easy to run it under a sofa or bed with legs.
Pros and cons
I have been using the vacuum cleaner for about 3 months. Of the advantages of Sweeper Robot, I note:
• a light weight;
• ease of use;
• quiet work;
• the ability to quickly recharge.
Unfortunately, the acquisition turned out to have more disadvantages:
• there is no wet cleaning mode;
• small volume of the dust collector;
• holds little charge;
• cannot independently climb even a small elevation in the form of a carpet;
• sometimes starts to ride only one small trajectory, ignoring other parts of the room;
• badly collects garbage from carpet and tiles;
• it will take more than half a day to vacuum the entire apartment, so sometimes it is easier and faster to clean yourself.
I am currently considering buying a more expensive and powerful model with wet cleaning capability. I've heard a lot about IRobot and Xiaomi vacuum cleaners, so I will study this issue and buy a new one. It would also be interesting to hear feedback from robot vacuum cleaner owners, especially those with pets.
