Window Socket - a solar-powered window socket never released
Hello dear guests and subscribers of my channel. Today I want to tell you about an "innovative device" - Window Socket, which in its essence is an ordinary socket with a small solar panel and a battery. And earlier they tried to start production in all seriousness.
What marketers said about Window Socket
So, let's get to know the device in more detail and find out what was so unique (according to marketers) in it.
The main feature of such a unique device was the ability to mount the socket on the wall (yes, that's right). The development of this gadget was carried out by designers K. Song and Boa O.
This device is designed to be attached with suction cups to the glass, and inside this tiny body is a battery with a capacity of as much as 1,000 mAh.
Also, in the advertising presentation, the emphasis was made on the fact that the dimensions of the device are quite compact and it is quite possible to take it with you on a trip.
From the technical parameters in the presentation it was said that the time to fully charge the battery from sunlight is 8 hours.
At the same time, it is especially emphasized that the appearance of the window outlet will not spoil the aesthetic appearance of any room and will not annoy you.
As the creators assured, this device, of course, cannot power a TV, but it is quite possible to recharge a phone or a player.
Now let's take a real look at this gadget.
Disadvantages of Window Socket, which prevented the gadget from commercializing
So, now let's critically analyze the "miracle" socket and justify why it didn't even cost 100 rubles.
The first thing I want to immediately draw your attention to is that with such an area of the solar surface, the maximum that the solar panel will be capable of is to light a couple of LEDs and no more.
And even such a modest 1000 mAh battery cannot really charge such a battery even in a week. You can read about my experiments with charging from solar panels on the channel (the link will be at the end of the material).
Such advantage as the ability to charge the phone and the player also causes a very immodest smile. So with this task, and with much greater efficiency, the most ordinary powerbank will cope, because it has a USB connector, and the outlet is not provided in principle.
That is, it was assumed that you would really need to plug your phone's charger into such an outlet in order to recharge it.
It is much easier and more efficient to simply plug the charger into a regular outlet.
Perhaps even these cursory arguments turned out to be enough to understand that the development that marketers were doing had absolutely no prospects from a practical point of view. And in fact, this is just a trinket, which is only suitable as an unusual souvenir, and not a full-fledged gadget that will be useful to you on a hike or trip.
That is why this "device" never found its commercial use. After all, there were not so many fans of decorative rosettes.
