Important about frost resistance
What is frost resistance? This is the number of cycles of alternating freeze-thaw in conditions of complete moisture saturation. How is it tested? The brick is immersed under water for 48 hours, then it is alternately frozen / thawed until signs of destruction appear or until the declared frost resistance index is reached. Testing is expensive, so many manufacturers save money and ask for a parameter within 50–75 cycles, less often - 100. And what are 50 cycles if there can be up to 40 zero-crossing cycles in central Russia per year?
Risk areas for facing bricks
On the other hand, if the masonry is protected by eaves overhangs at the top and a plinth at the bottom, there are no leaks, the masonry can withstand decades. IN risk zone most often there are open structures: chimney heads, fence posts, houses with flat roofs, parapets, etc.
The situation is aggravated by the total laying of bricks for bars throughout the country. The brick should be laid only in a full seam. The brick should be with a thickened front wall of more than 20 mm. If peeling of bricks occurs on the facade, the problem is not in the factory in 99% of cases.
