The basics of caring for marigolds, my events at their summer cottage to take care of flowers
Marigolds are picky perennials, caring for which does not require much effort. The main thing you need to know is how and how much to water the flowers, whether you need to fertilize and dig them out for the winter. And so, the plants do not interfere in any way, only decorating the garden with their bright inflorescences and filling the air with a pleasant aroma.
The main criteria for choosing a place for marigolds:
· Moist soil.
· Any light, flowers can grow in the shade and in direct sunlight.
· Lack of drafts.
· Possibility of close proximity of plants to each other, dense planting.
Fertilizers
I do not often carry out fertilization events for marigolds, since this is not mandatory, but when the correct introduction of additives into the soil, like any other plant, marigolds will bloom even more abundantly and more magnificent.
I fertilize according to the following scheme:
Compound fertilizer, after the seeds have grown 15 cm from the ground.
Potash or phosphate fertilizer before flowering.
After the marigolds stop producing buds and wither, I again apply complex fertilizer.
By the way, I water the plants once a week, not abundantly. In this case, special attention must be paid to the soil. If it has been raining recently, then watering is postponed. All watering decisions are made as the land dries up.
I do not dig out flowers for the winter, only before the onset of cold weather, in October, I cut off the inflorescences. So the plants look presentable, and they tolerate cold weather better.
When marigolds bloom in the garden, the eye will not fall in love. I consider these flowers to be faithful helpers to any gardener - beautiful and simple.
