How to understand what an electrician is saying - a short jargon dictionary
Hello dear guests and subscribers of my channel. Have you ever heard electricians talk to each other? I think that an uninitiated person will not be able to understand every word.
By the way, knowledge of common jargon expressions may come in handy in the future. Now I will tell you about the most common expressions and decipher what they mean.
Control
So, hearing this word before your eyes, you should have the following picture:
This device is designed to check the absence or presence of voltage on the supply line or wire. Of course, this is practically a material that has disappeared into oblivion, but sometimes (especially among the masters of the old school) control can be found in the arsenal of instruments. This tool is also often used by auto electricians.
Tseshka
This name hides the second most important device for any electrician, namely a digital measuring device - the Multimeter.
This is a versatile device, in capable hands, which is an excellent assistant for checking the health of the device. As well as finding any damage or flaw in your wiring.
This is a must-have device for any master.
Indicator
This is the name of the main device of any home electrician. An electrician may not have a screwdriver, multimeter or any other tool with him, but if he does not have an indicator with him, then he is not an electrician at all.
The most important tool is correctly called - an indicator screwdriver, and it is designed to find the neutral and phase wires that are energized. And also to check the presence or absence of voltage, for example, in the outlet. In addition, it is a fully functional screwdriver.
Carrying
Quite often, this name means an ordinary extension cord.
But this, of course, is fundamentally not true, since such a gadget is called a carrier.
Machine
If you look into any modern switchboard (which is also often called Shield), you can see such interesting devices.
Between themselves, electricians call them automatic machines, but they have a name - an automatic switch and are designed to timely disconnect the damaged section of the circuit.
KZ (sometimes shorty)
This acronym hides the worst thing that can happen on any home network (and not only), namely a Short Circuit. From the electrician you can hear the phrase: Here there was a short circuit. This means that it was at this point in the wiring that damage occurred and a short circuit occurred.
Nut
Large wire connector in a round box. Because of its appearance, it received the name Walnut. At the moment, it is used less and less as it is considered obsolete.
Puncture
This is the modern version of the Nut, so to speak, and has the official name - the piercing connecting clip. Used to connect to lines such as self-supporting insulated wire.
Swage
This is nothing more than pliers, with the help of which professional electricians crimp the ends of the cores to connect them to terminal blocks, etc.
These are just a few of the common jargon expressions used by electricians. If you liked the material, then be sure to like and repost. Thank you for your attention!
