Why it happens

There may be several reasons for such an unpleasant situation. I will list the main ones:

· Too high nitrogen content in the soil. Many gardeners like to generously fertilize young tomatoes with chicken droppings or mullein. The problem with these fertilizers is that they contain a lot of nitrogen. It stimulates the growth of greenery, weakens the roots, and the fruits are in no hurry to set.

· Unsuitable air temperature. If the air gets colder +15 or warmer + 28-30 degrees, it can harm plants.

· Excessively high or low air humidity. With high humidity, pollen from tomato flowers will crumble, and if too low, it will not germinate.

· Overgrown tomato bushes. In this case, all the vitality of the bush goes to the growth of young branches, and they are not left for the fruits.

· Lack of fertilizers.

How to solve the problem

If the fact is that you grow tomatoes in the open field and the air is too cold, cover them with foil. Are greenhouse tomatoes too hot? Remember to ventilate the greenhouse.

Reduced air humidity is solved by regular watering. Increased (often this problem occurs in greenhouses) - by open doors and greenhouse vents after each watering.

Do not forget to pinch the bushes to prevent overgrowth.

The excess nitrogen in the soil is corrected by removing some of the leaves and applying phosphate fertilizer.

Lack of phosphate and potassium fertilizers can be a problem in and of itself. We introduce them during flowering, otherwise the plant will not have enough strength to bear fruit. We dilute 10 g of each of these fertilizers in 10 liters of water and water the tomatoes.
