A special metal fastener is responsible for fixing the wire, which is made of austenitic chrome-nickel steel. This steel is additionally coated with a tin-lead alloy (this is in the original terminals, and in cheap analogs everything is much simpler), which provides a small transition resistance and retains sufficient elasticity.

So what is the main disadvantage of WAGO

But the whole trick lies in the fact that the area of ​​such a contact is relatively small. Due to this, the main disadvantage is a fairly high contact resistance, and it is about 1.5 times higher than that of the most common twisting (which is prohibited in its pure form according to the rules).

In addition, such clamps have such an interesting effect.

After the first current flows through the core connected by the VAGO terminal block, the effect of welding the spring clip and the wire occurs. In this case, the formed connection has extremely weak mechanical strength and at the slightest movement of the wire, such a connection is destroyed.

  1. The VAGO terminal blocks are best suited for circuits with low currents (ideal for lighting).
  2. It is required to strictly observe the installation technology. That is, the core must be stripped to a certain length, free from oxide traces, and must be straight. If you try to connect a highly oxidized or curved conductor, you can significantly increase the contact resistance. And this will negatively affect the value of the passing current and strong heating of the connection, which can even lead to a fire.
  3. Even slight movements of the reins relative to the terminal block will have an extremely negative effect on the quality of the connection.
