How to quickly glue plastic (pipes, household appliances, etc.). Strong cold welded connection
With the help of cold welding for plastic, you can easily and simply glue the parts yourself. In this case, the seam will be as strong as the rest of the plastic.
There are enough plastic products in our houses and dachas. You can repair pipes, garden tools, etc.
Cold welding - this is a glue containing epoxy and amine resins, as well as a metal or mineral filler.
Advantages
- strength after gluing;
- there is no need to heat the composition;
- even a beginner can glue;
- glue is cheap.
Cold welding is also used to repair plastic parts in passenger cars, to connect plastic pipes, join plastic insulation in electrical wiring, for the repair of household appliances.
Cold welding
1. The glue is sold in the form of a tube. The outside of the straw is hardener, and the inside is epoxy. For use, a piece should be cut from the tube, which is sufficient for gluing. It must be kneaded with your fingers until smooth. It looks like plasticine.
2. Sold in 2 containers. In one filler, in the other resin. They are thoroughly mixed until homogeneous and applied.
3. Formulation in a tube that can be used immediately.
Plus in the first two - long storage due to the two-component composition. The third type of composition is best used immediately.
How to apply
- Do not allow the glue to get on your skin or eyes; you should wear gloves and glasses.
- Place the glue in a dark and cool place, out of reach of children and animals.
- Food should not be left near the glue.
Previously, those surfaces that you want to glue should be cleaned with emery. They will become roughened, resulting in increased adhesion. Then you need to degrease the surfaces by wiping them with alcohol.
Next, one part is lubricated with glue, the other is pressed against it by force. It will take 3 minutes and the glue will set. After 20 minutes, a stronger connection is obtained.
Useful Tips
- If the glue in the tube hardens, it can be made usable again. Place the tube in a container of hot water, the contents will become liquid after 20 minutes.
- If the surfaces will vibrate strongly in the future, then it is better to glue them together with a specialized compound designed for intense vibrations.
- Cold welding can also be carried out on damp surfaces, but then special glue is required. If there is a leak in the plastic pipes, it can be repaired on site. However, this is still a temporary solution.
