When will I dig the Lunar Calendar Potatoes in 2020. Do you stick to it?
Does the phase of the earth's satellite affect the properties of the crop harvested on the day when the moon was growing or declining? Definitely yes. This has nothing to do with omens and popular beliefs: the influence of an earthly satellite on all living organisms has been proven by scientists.
This is why I stick to the lunar calendar when I choose harvest time. I am telling you when I will dig up potatoes in 2020 according to the phases of the moon.
How the moon phase affects the harvest
It is believed that digging potatoes is necessary, focusing not only on the weather and the phase of the earth's satellite, but also on when you plan to use it:
· If you are digging potatoes in order to consume them almost immediately - it is worth doing it when the moon is growing. It is in this phase of the moon that the maximum of useful substances accumulates in the potato.
· In the event that you need long-term storage of the root crop, it makes sense to dig it out at a time when the moon is waning.
At this time, harmful microorganisms are less affected by the vegetable, which means that the potatoes will not rot ahead of time.
Dates for digging potatoes in 2020
If you have decided on a goal, it is important to find out specific dates in order to start harvesting. In August and September 2020, the phases of the moon will take place as follows:
· From August 20 to September 1, the moon will be growing;
· September 2 will be the first autumn full moon;
· From 2 to 17 September, the moon will wane.
Knowing this, it is not difficult to find the right time. Since I plan to keep my potatoes for a long time, I will pick them on September 5-6. Weekends on the waning moon are the best time this year so that the dug up crop of root crops is stored for a very long time and does not deteriorate during storage.
However, if these dates do not please us with good, dry weather, the potatoes can be dug out on the 12-13th - another weekend when the moon is waning.
In this case, I will be sure that no potatoes will rot, even if a large harvest is consumed slowly.
For quick consumption, it makes sense to dig up the potatoes from August 20 to September 1. It will not lie for a long time, but this crop will be quite useful.
I have been following the lunar calendar for several years already. In my experience, it really works and helps a lot to get the most out of the hassle of the garden.
Do you adhere to the lunar calendar when harvesting or do you think this is unreasonable?
