5 main contraindications when caring for the Decembrist. Don't make these Mistakes if the Plant is dear to you.
The ancient indoor Decembrist flower is not as capricious as orchids and even violets, but unfortunately, even with it, mistakes are possible! Perhaps someone will benefit from experience from how I treated this plant.
Soil composition
I thought that in the fertile garden soil, flowers, of course, grow well! But it turned out that the Decembrist in such conditions only actively increases the green mass, and is not going to bloom.
The situation was saved only by transplanting into a new substrate. It is very simple to prepare it - you need to mix 1 part peat, sand and turf soil. Sand can be replaced with vermiculite.
In addition, 1/3 the pot should be filled with expanded clay, which acts as a drainage layer.
Lighting
Unfortunately, this reason is rarely guessed, when the Decembrist reluctantly blooms in winter! The fact is that during this period of the year it is advisable to turn on the phytolamp near it - at least for 2-3 hours, until sunrise or after sunset, thus creating an optimal day.
Watering
Everything is simple here - you need to water generously in summer and spring, keeping the soil constantly moist. By autumn, the frequency of watering is reduced. And when does it bloom?
Here, many make the mistake of deciding that during the period of budding and flowering itself, the plant should not suffer from thirst!
But it turns out, on the contrary, you need to water it a little bit every day, so that the earth is not moistened to the bottom of the pot.
Dry air
The tropical origin made the Decembrist very sensitive to the level of humidity in the air. Ideally, if the apartment has a special device - a humidifier.
By the way! Also beneficial for human and pets health.
In its absence, in the summer in the heat and in the winter during the flowering period of the Decembrist should be sprayed daily from a spray bottle.
Moving
From the conversations of friends, I realized that many people think that there is nothing wrong with rearranging indoor plants from place to place!
Only in reality do some species perceive it painfully. The Decembrist, due to the change of residence in the house, has a delay in flowering, and the already filled buds fall off.
In principle, even rotating the pot around its axis is undesirable. The only favorable period for moving the pot with the Decembrist is the spring-summer period, when the plant will have time to recover.
