Why in Finland it is impossible to glaze a balcony or loggia individually

I love to relax in Finland. I appreciate the people of Suomi for a measured way of life, strict observance of laws and order in everyday life.

Her favorite pastime is looking at Finnish houses. Most of them are low, 3-6 floors. An indispensable attribute of every house is the presence of spacious balconies or loggias in every apartment. This is where order and discipline are visible! The Finnish balcony is not a junk warehouse or a laundry branch, but a cozy outdoor living room. Accordingly, there must be a table, a sofa and armchairs, a beach umbrella, many colors, bright pillows and curtains; in winter - glowing garlands and decorations.

Immediately striking: in each separate house either there is the same glazing of absolutely all balconies or loggias, or it is not in any apartment. Due to this uniformity, all houses look neat and stylish, and do not at all resemble a "chicken coop", where each balcony does not look like a neighbor's balcony.

I inquired and found out that the government of Finland has long passed a law prohibiting individual redevelopment of dwellings, including changes in the design and appearance of balconies and loggias. Any architectural and technical innovations can only be made by the management company.

In many houses, glazing is installed for autumn-winter and removed in spring. All this is carried out centrally, in all apartments, and only by decision of the governing bodies. Whether the tenants of the house like it or not, nobody cares: if something does not suit you, then you can look for another home.

An interesting fact: the Finns use frameless glazing of balconies, in which extra strong glass fits snugly against one another. They are all sliding. Recently, this type of design of external structures of a building is gaining popularity in Russia. And it is called "Finnish balconies" or "Finnish glazing".

Houses in the country of Suomi with their identical balconies are pleasing to the eye and do not cause irritation with any lurid eclecticism. Perhaps this style and adherence to building codes will seem boring to someone... But here you can debate!
