7 ways to connect timber in corners. New fasteners
When building a house, a veranda, any other building from a bar, the question arises: how to connect the bars to each other (perpendicularly). The strength of the building depends on a strong connection.
There are specials. equipment that helps to accurately execute grooves and tenons. But such equipment is used only at large enterprises.
We will tell you how to independently connect the timber in the corners.
To avoid blowing out the corners, you need to make special shapes of the joints.
The most famous is "dovetail"
Also called "frying pan". The method is based on a groove-thorn of a peculiar trapezoidal shape. The joint tolerates wood deformation well. Optimum bond strength is achieved. A template is made for a bar and the elements are cut off with a chainsaw.
There are disadvantages to such a connection:
- Moisture penetrates into inclined corners. Mold and rot may form. Therefore, the corners are carefully waterproofed,
- The difficulty of creating a felling. Only a professional can do the right thing
- Additionally, you need to cover the corners with thermal insulation material.
In the paw
Oblique sawing of the timber makes the knot static. A very strong connection, albeit as complex as the dovetail.
One-sided groove
Such a connection is mistakenly considered questionable in terms of strength. The bar is fixed not only by one vector. The next crown firmly holds the structure together.
Double-sided groove
A quarter of a tree is cut in each bar. This is a simpler connection. It is easier to cut 2 grooves than one halfway.
Butt joint
This is an even simpler solution. To make the connection strong and not creep, it is fixed with metal or wooden elements. Use metal corners with brackets or other fasteners.
Rebar pins are not advised to use because of their embossed surface. The timber can get stuck and there will be gaps. It is advised to use wooden pins made of oak or birch. World construction experts recommend square-section wooden pins.
Minus: how not to seal, insulate the cracks in the corners, they will still freeze.
Wood floor connection
This is the most popular type. Pins are additionally driven in. The beam holds well in the corners and does not appear as many gaps as in the previous version.
Corner connection - warm corner
The method does not require special skill and experience. It is much easier to make it. It does not require precise fit. If there are gaps, then they must be sealed with a seal.
Spring assembly "Force"
The timber gradually dries out, shrinks. In this case, gaps are always formed. The spring assembly pulls the upper bar to the lower. Gaps, gaps do not appear. Therefore, caulking is not required. Only slight sealing is possible. Moreover, working with the spring assembly is faster and easier.
Such an invention costs from 50 rubles. a piece. To work, you still need a drill with low speeds and a nozzle.
