Luxurious roses are my favorite flowers in my garden! And although in some ways they are capricious, but having studied some scientific and botanical literature, I was able to discover the "secret" of their magnificent flowering, wonderful appearance!

The main thing is to take proper care of them at the end of summer, apply the necessary fertilizer! And, great, it costs almost nothing!

And I want to emphasize right away that heavy rains, which are common in autumn, prevent roses from fully assimilating fertilizers. Therefore, it is best to make them twice - in September and October.

Another important nuance is the rejection of nitrogen fertilizers. Not in the fall! After all, they are designed to stimulate the growth of any plants, and roses in the fall need to get ready for "sleep", and not to grow new branches.

The first fertilizer for roses should prepare them for cold weather, which means that it should contain potassium and calcium. If you choose from environmentally friendly fertilizers, then it is, of course, ash.

Plain woody, but you can also use obtained from burning tops and weeds. The main thing is that there are no obviously diseased plants in the plant residues.

To prepare the necessary root dressing from ash, you just need to dilute 100 g of this gray powder in 10 liters of water. Ash is also good in that it provides the prevention of fungal diseases, often affecting roses that winter under a shelter, where conditions favorable for harmful microorganisms are created by high humidity air.

2-3 weeks after the first fertilization, I recommend using compost. It is the compost that contains the maximum nutrients for roses.

Thanks to him, they maintain strong immunity throughout the winter and are able to gloriously spring up, vigorously grow, build new buds in the spring!

In addition, compost, laid out on the ground close to the roots of plants, acts as a heat-insulating layer, that is, it protects roses from freezing.

In conclusion of the topic, I want to add that of course, it is impossible to provide full care for roses with fertilizers alone! In the fall, sanitary pruning should also not be neglected; fallen leaves should be removed - they can be a breeding ground for pests and pathogens hibernating in them.
