How to quit everything at 23, go to live in a village and not regret it
How to move from city to country. Moving stories, what difficulties I had to face. On the pros and cons of suburban life.
The decision to move from an apartment to a country house has not only significant advantages, but also significant disadvantages, which are not obvious to many. I will tell you about my experience, a young girl who, despite all the persuasions, left to live with her family in a country house and unexpectedly faced an endless stream of difficulties. Perhaps my story will be interesting to someone and help make the right decision to move out of town.
My husband and I moved a few years ago to our own house from a two-room apartment on a 16 - floor building not far from the center of Kaliningrad.
The country house is located at a distance of more than 50 km from the city, in the village of Krasnoe, at the time of the move there was no heating, no running water or cable Internet. For several years it was just a dacha, where we came for the weekend with friends to fry barbecue, take a steam bath or just relax.
I work remotely as a copywriter, my husband is a deputy director in a large company, we had no children at the time of the move, and now we are expecting a daughter. I will make a reservation right away that neither I nor my husband regret the decision.
The main reason why we decided to move out of town was fatigue from city noise and disgusting ecology, we just wanted peace and quiet.
What did we encounter in the first stages?
· Traffic jams at the entrance to Kaliningrad when the husband had to travel to the city to work;
· Lack of amenities, the toilet was originally outside, instead of a shower - a bath;
· Stove heating, which was at the time of our move, unexpectedly brought a lot of trouble with the preparation of firewood and cleaning chimneys;
· The nearest store is located at a distance of more than 5 kilometers from our house, so you have to plan your shopping list and menu for the week in advance;
· The construction of outbuildings turned out to be much more difficult than it seemed on paper;
· It is necessary to have a large assortment of medicines in the home medicine cabinet, since the nearest 24-hour pharmacy is more than 20 kilometers away;
· Power outages, which happened quite often during winter hurricanes, which sometimes take more than one day for the services to eliminate;
· Constant state of repair. In your own home, there is always something to fix and what to improve. In addition to the house itself, there are also various outbuildings that also require investments;
· Limited social circle. In winter, the village practically dies out, and the lack of a stable Internet connection complicates communication with friends.
However, despite all the difficulties in life in your own home, even at such a distance from the city and state of "permanent renovation" has significant advantages over living in a two-room apartment. But I will tell you about them in the next story.
