A short course on how to reconnect with nature or the story of my move to a country house

How to move from city to country. Moving stories, what difficulties I had to face. On the pros and cons of suburban life.

We moved from our city (Luza, Kirov region) 10 years ago. We bought half a house outside the city, in a residential area. We settled down, made repairs, it happened in about 2-3 years. The whole family began to live in their cozy and well-equipped dwelling and, to be honest, I don’t want to move back.

Nearby there is a forest, large and golden fields, wide plains, picturesque places and fresh air. What else is needed for peace of mind? Not far from the house is a river, near which, on warm summer evenings, you can fry something over a fire and spend the sunset. In winter, there is an opportunity to spend an active weekend, for example: go sledding or skiing with the whole family on snowy eels. Another plus of housing outside the city is its own garden, where very often in the fall you can harvest a large harvest. The best part about this is that all vegetables are natural and grown by their own labor. We even have a basement in which all our crops are stored in blanks and raw. Due to the fact that there is a forest nearby, our family is always provided with mushrooms and berries.

But living outside the city still has several disadvantages. Namely:

1. Lack of clothing stores, household appliances, household chemicals, etc. There are only a few grocery stores. And for serious goods you have to go to the city.

2. Lack of normal lighting at night. In the settlements outside the city there are not enough lanterns, so most people, including us, have to install a lantern near their house with their own hands.

3. If one of the family members is seriously ill, then you need to seek medical help in the city. There is not a single first-aid post nearby, and the ambulance takes a long time to go. Therefore, it is not safe for people with heart disease or other serious diseases to live here.

4. Well, and not quite a significant minus. People who do not like insects, amphibians, worms and reptiles are better off stepping back from permanent residence in a country house, because settlements outside the city are more closely related to wildlife and these animals there enough. For a very long time I myself tried to overcome my fear of amphibians and, by the way, I did it.

In conclusion, I want to say that if you are still choosing between moving out of town and living in a city apartment, then I think the first option is much better. The disadvantages that I mentioned do not compare with this wonderful pastime and getting closer to nature.

Below will be presented a photo of my house from several angles.
