China has one of the largest solar power plants in the world
Green technologies are being developed and deployed around the world, and most of the largest economies are committed to reducing carbon emissions.
So, within the framework of the project to reduce the carbon footprint to zero by 2060, China officially launched the most powerful solar power plant in the country and the second largest in the world. I’ll tell you about this event.
New solar station
A new solar station has been commissioned in the northwestern province of Qinghai. And this is literally a week after the statement by the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping that the country will completely get rid of carbon emissions into the atmosphere by 2060.
So the new "solar" park has an installed capacity of 2.2 GW, which is one minute inferior to the largest solar park of the planet called "Bhadla", located in India, whose capacity is 2.245 GW.
Before that, the largest solar station in China was a station located in the Tengger Desert, with a nominal capacity of 1.54 GW. By comparison, the largest solar plant in the United States has a capacity of 579 MW.
China's ambition to reduce emissions looks noble and it is undoubtedly the world's green energy locomotive. But dependence on coal still remains extremely high, and the intentions voiced by representatives of the energy sector are at least surprising.
Thus, according to the approved plan, new coal-fired power plants with a total capacity of 40 GW will be built in the country. And this, according to experts, is the current total consumption of the entire industry in South Africa.
So it turns out that China has dual power in this regard, it is simultaneously a leader in preserving the environment and, as it were, striving to do everything to improve the situation in the world.
And at the same time it is the most important source of polluting emissions, and at the same time plans to increase these emissions even more in the future.
What path China will ultimately choose is anyone's guess, but the ecology of the entire planet depends on this release, so we will closely monitor this process.
