How not to lose friends or renovate a private house with the help of professionals

I sold the car and, so as not to waste money, as is usually the case, on food, I decided to refresh the renovation of my private house. The amount was small, 150 thousand rubles, so it was decided to repair half of the house, where we spend most of our time.

The question arose: to hire professionals or seek help from friends who carry out repairs on their own and made it their main source of income. After consulting with acquaintances, I opted for my friends-finishers. It was necessary to perform the following types of work:

• Cover the hall room with carpet;
• Sew up the window with plasterboard - the room is a walk-through, narrow, the window there was superfluous, I bought a picture to decorate the wall;
• Paint all ceilings where GKL sheets are installed;
• Re-paste the wallpaper;
• Change the floors in the hallway of one of the exits of the house.

The problems started right away. I sold the car due to the fact that there was a fracture of the ankle with a displacement, I would not be able to drive for at least a year. Grief masters took me to the hardware stores, and I paid all the expenses. I personally chose all the purchased material at high prices - there were no discounts for retail. Work has begun.

I'm generally silent about showers. The picture had to be removed.

The wallpaper was pasted by a familiar couple, the husband measured out the canvases, the wife coated the sheets with glue and glued them. Here is the result.

Moreover, the wallpaper is expensive, with proper gluing it should have served at least 5 years. They began to move away from the walls six months later.

The floors in the hallway are of an acceptable level with minor imperfections.

Self-repair cost and time

The most important thing in working with non-professional friends is pay, time. From the very first day, work began with lunchtime, afternoon. This was explained by the fact that friends have a lot of household chores. For my part, I can say that the money requested the day before was spent on drink. If I had information that they are lovers of alcoholic beverages, I would never have turned to such comrades.

The quality of the work began to deteriorate as the agreed amount was spent. Friends began to disappear, and the work was stopped for several days. As a result, 40 thousand rubles were spent on building materials, 80 thousand to pay for work. The renovation took 3 months.

conclusions

After the reconstruction, I asked the construction companies about the prices, the terms of the cosmetic repairs. Was surprised. Experienced finishers would have completed the same scope of work with high quality in 1 month. The repair would cost me 2 times cheaper.

The saying in this case is justified "I wanted the best - it turned out, as always!" I planned to save money by agreeing with friends for one amount, but the renovation took a long time, and the amount was much higher than the required amount.

Next time, when there is a desire to update the repair, I will turn to the specialized masters with positive feedback, a portfolio of works, a quality guarantee.
