How we taught cats and dogs to relax in the country and reduced the risk of escape or loss

Control until you get used to the street

Our cats are afraid of the streets, even if they walked quite calmly last year. Therefore, I keep the animal inside the house for a while, and then release it, but only under my supervision. As long as I am near, the cat will focus on me, but if I move away even a short distance, he can give a fight wherever the eyes are looking. Therefore, the first days, while the cat gets used to and learns where the entrance to the house is, I walk with him. I spend 150-30 minutes on it several times a day.

An ID tag for a dog and a cat is a must-have item for walking. If the animal is lost and enters a strange area, then if there is a mark on the collar with your phone, the neighbors will know how to find you. One of our cats jumped out of the yard without a collar, and I found her only three months later. Now we have provided all the animals with addressable collar inserts.

Fences are not an obstacle for cats, and a dog can easily run out into a slightly open gate. Some of our animals have been successful in digging. We solved the problem like this: we looked at what places the cat or dog uses to escape outside the yard, and took measures to strengthen them.

We explored the surroundings with the animals

We have purchased a harness for each animal and we are walking our dogs and cats on it. It is convenient and allows the animal to explore its surroundings. Therefore, even if my cat or dog runs out of the fence, the area will be familiar to him by smells, and, accordingly, the way home will be easy to find.

Found where cats can run through the trees

Cats love to climb trees. Our people just sleep on them. Sometimes we are knocked off our feet, looking for our muras, quietly dozing on the branches. We took a closer look at what trees your cat likes and assessed whether they can jump off the fence. And then they began to walk exactly near those places that are most suitable for escape. We taught our cats to return to the territory the same way they got away.
